  • Tried the Everyday Value tinned chicken curry as I really enjoy the Tesco's own equivalent.
I'm afraid I was disappointed. Very little chicken, flavourless sauce and soggy veg.
I won't be making a permanent swap with this one.
Because it's fun to have money!

  • Tried another Everyday Value for the first time today. Their Orange Squash. Very impressed! Only needed a tiny amount for a large glass of pleasant tasting squash.
A BIG PLUS for me was that I didn't get that scummy/gritty last gulp that you do with Robinsons and Tesco's Own, which has put me off orange squash in the past. But none of it with Everyday Value.
    I'm converted with this one!

The Tesco Value short spaghetti wasn't bad according to OH but he thinks the new Everyday Value one tastes sweet.

Thanks all posters xx Great thread will be trying a few of these after your reviews xx
  • As my student loan will be arriving at midnight tonight I am thoroughly excited about my first big Tesco shop of my final year!

I've just had a read through the thread and added many of the rated Tesco Everyday Value things to my list. Less spent on groceries means more spent on booze! Hooray for student life, will be sad to see it end.

Will let you know how I get on.

I just wanted to mention that it may be worth stocking up on the value (or basics or any other economy range) right now as the Christmas stuff is starting to arrive, once it hits the 6 weeks 'till Xmas mark most if not all the value range will appear to vanish and all the over priced Christmas products will be put in its place. Happens every year and always takes people aback.

Hm think I might try out the "substitute" plan as I get all my shopping online.. the delivery/collection charge added in it's still cheap and stops me from getting stuff randomly when wandering round the shop. Anyway I heard that if you tell the online grocery website to provide a substitute for any items not in stock then they don't charge you if the substitute cost more than the item they couldn't supply.. so maybe the shortage at xmas might mean a free upgrade to my shopping basket.. fingers crossed!

After a long wait at my local store, picked up a tin of Everyday Value Corned beef.

I was amazed when I opened it, not a spot of fat, looked like expensive deli stuff!

    Moist and keeps fresh well.

The Asda Smart Price is always caked in fat and it was always a time consuming fiddle removing it.

Other Tesco value products we use are plum tomatoes, tuna, diced chicked, mince, sausgaes and the toilet paper.

I know some don't like the last 3 but we are quite satisified with them. If I bought more expensive loo roll I would go bankrupt the amount I use lol.
