Tesco Everyday value - brief reviews

Great thread. Have posted elsewhere here I think Tesco Everyday Value products have improved dramatically under the new branding... I went to Asda and got some of the equivalent 'Smart Price' items and they are so inferior now... Also some things in the Everyday Value range have more varietys... e.g. For the Everyday Value Pizza's they have cheese/tom, pepperoni and meat feast... Asda Smart price just cheese/tom.
Here is where I am at with Everyday Value items...
GOOD STUFF
Everyday Value Mince - 750g - £2.35 (can be more expesnive at times, but superb, all beef - no pork/beef mince or beef/horse mix ha!)
Everyday Value Pasta - 30p
Everyday Value - tinned veg's (carrots, peas etc)
Everyday Value Tuna Chunks - 85p (Unbelievable value/taste)
Everyday Value Diced Chicken - 400g - £2.94
Everyday Value Frying Steaks (X4 per pack) - £3.35
Everyday Value Bacon (£1.50ish)
Everyday Value Pepper (18p small size)
Everyday Value Soft Cheese (50p normal 60p garlic amazing for price)
Everyday Value washing powder (85p 13 washes - Does job for general wash, doubt it would work for hefty stains)
Everyday Value Rolls / Bread
Everyday Value Pizza's (£1.39ish - decent and variety in 'toppings')
Everyday Value Cheddar Cheese grated (if you love cheese 500g - £2.15)
Everyday Value Mozzarella (44p - not best in world but does job for nachos etc)
Everyday Value Orange / Apple Juice from concentrate (62p - 100% juice from concentrate Asda Smartprice is 50% J.F.C and 50% water and crap lol)
Everyday Value Vodka - (£9.49ish - handy if not fussy or a student... err me then :P )
Everyday Value Salmon (4 pieces not bad at all)
Everyday Value Rainbow trout (2 pieces - £1.99 - decent)
Everyday Value Macaroni cheese (85p tastes good with a bit salt/pepper)
Everyday Value frozen chips (does the job, taste well, just need cooked for longer)
Everyday Value Bagged Salad (More lettice(y) really. but instead of 200-250g bag it's like 400g for £1 - for garnish/health on the side of the plate ha!)
Everyday Value Stirfry (fresh) - £1 (it's a bigger bag then other stirfry packs, less peppers and onions in it but still perfectly good)
Everyday Value Grapes - £1.75 (very good tasting, maybe not quite as sweet but still very good, grapes not a cheap fruit IMO)
Everyday Value Strawberries £1.75 (chance of not being quite so sweet - dash of sugar still tasty!)
AVOID
Everyday Value washing up liquid - 39p (really does cack all. Daisy stuff at 49p isn't much better but better than this!)
Everyday Value air freshener (smells of nowt really)
Everyday Value Tortilla's - 46p (Asda's Smart Price are far superior taste)
That's about all I can think of, off the top of my head! :-)
Still got to try / or kinda scared to try Everyday Value likes of Salad Cream, Ketchup and pasta/bolognese sauce.PK! :money:0 -
I don't know if it's already been mentioned but I love the Everyday frozen Stir Fry mix. Fresh Stir Fry mix never gets eaten quickly enough in our house before it goes off so the frozen alternative reduces waste and it has a nice mix of veg in it!
I bought this on your reccomendation :T good spot0 -
I dont usually get to Tesco but got a lift the other day, bought Value Marmalade (around 27p I think) and OH says it's lovely.
Also Value Biscuit Barrel biccies (around £1.40 but with 4 or 5 seperate packs inside) and they are very nice, very fresh, very tasty.
I wish I had bought the Value Lemon Curd too to try......maybe next time.0 -

No Probs - great to pass on... As a Student on £30-35 quid a week it's been vital to keep the shop budget down(...and that is a real budget without the 'typical student nights out etc can't afford them!)
I prefer Asda for other 'non smart price/value' items but for 'cheapest range' TESCO now is leagues ahead in quality...PK! :money:0 -
Just started using smartprice washing powder and can't see the difference between that and daz/surf etcWife and mother :jGrocery budget
April week 1 - £42.78 | week 2 - £53.0524lbs in 12 weeks 15/240 -
I have bought and tried
Good:
mince
chicken breasts
diced chicken
Whole chicken
Tuna
Foil
Cling film
Bin bags
Mayonnaise
Frozen peas
Fromage frais
Orange juice
Tinned sweet corn
Milk chocolate digestive bars (these are lovely)
Pasta sauce
Bad:
Bread - too hard did not taste fresh
Ice cream - not much taste
Apples - ok one week but horrible the next
Baked beans - too much juice
Tissues - ok apart from very rough so not good for a sore nose
On the list to buy and try this week are apple and blackcurrant squash & biscuits.0
