Value grapes, it does depend on variety... the ones I mentioned on the page before the ones from India where ok, not as good on the South African ones... They are a mixture of big and small sizes, hence them being cheaper.
__
I seen when in today that in the big superstore in Glasgow in the '£1 store section with poundland type stuff' there is a shedload of Tesco value stuff been placed in there such as value fizzy juice, pasta, biscuits, toilet roll etc.
I wouldn't ever drink Value fizzy cola etc! Mind the old 11p value Kwik Save stuff as a kid, worst. thing. ever.
GOOD DEAL: I've seen is the Value Spaghetti is down to 19p, SUPERB BUY!
Can anyone tell me what the Value pasta sauce is like, with relation to say Dolmio? So many times like today i've picked it up and put it back down... Been a bit scared to buy it, have been buying Lidl's stuff at 75p.PK! :money:0 -

Value Fizzy Cola is an excellent toilet cleaner!

Last Saturday Tesco Value low fat yogurt was down to 45pence 500g from 49p the week before and 55p the week before that. And just run out of the spaghetti that I bought a year ago, the then price was 17p. So some things are looking OK0

I like the value pasta sauce, it's a bit more runnier than Dolmio though. I use it when making my own pizza's and my kids love it on their pasta.2017 - no clutter to be seen challenge: 72/2017

Tesco value passatta
I bought the Tesco brand passata at 29p for many years and then before Christmas it shot up to 69p and has stayed there. It was with little surprise therefore that I saw a couple of weeks ago that they have now introduced a value version at 29p! As I have since switched to the Aldi brand which has stayed at the lower price of 29p I decided to do a direct comparison.
Today I am making pasta sauce and opened one of each. While the tasted is very similar the value carton was very runny with little texture while the Aldi one is thicker, more red and had a much better look to it going into the pan. I would say it needs less reduction time too to make a decent sauce.
All in all a big fail by tesco and I will be sticking with the Aldi product.
Hope that helps someone.0 -
Plunged myself into the Value Pasta Sauce at 40p, noticed (after checking ASDA Smart price which only had 10-12% real tomato in it) that Tesco has 20% more Tomato in it - I think 21-22%. Tried it tonight, it was ok, but a bit 'cheap' tasting, like in my childhood having cheap ravioli sauce type taste. I will use up the other 2 bottles of it I got, but I think for 35p more can get a very lovely tasting Lidl/Aldi's one with 60-70% tomato's in it and real garlic/onion bits.
Other YES value items - which i've tried/failed to mention in my list on page 5...
Tesco Everyday Value Mouthwash - 40p 600ml. This isn't strongest, but for 40p does a decent job twice or thrice a day!
Tesco Everyday Value Handwash - 38p 500ml. I was expecting the worst, but it's clear packaging with clear liquid which smells, florally/lavendary, and for 38p it does a fab job, compared to £1 plus for a tiny bottle of Carex!
Tin - Tesco Everyday Value Tomatoes - 31p. Like most value veg does a decent, job. Splash a bit of sugar for a slightly sweeter taste great for pasta dishes etc.
OK-ISH
Tesco Everday Value Pitta Bread - 40p. These are OK, taste fine but quite thin/flimsy. Lidl's Greek company ones are a penny cheaper, have longer dates and are thicker...
Tesco Everyday Value Tortilla's - 46p. I put these in the NO pile previously, for tasting awful (especially compared to Smart Price) however had to get these last week, and tasted a bit better. Still not smart price excellent, but decent enough now, maybe a change of receipt/oil or something!
Think's thats my value tasting up to date. Only two things really i won't touch are value sausages or toilet roll! Kinda want to try but still 'scared' to try is value ketchup/salad cream. Ketchup not too fussed don't use it much, but salad cream - anyone tried it? If it is 60/70% like Heinz would be good. It's just sooo expensive is heinz. My budget is so tight this next couple of months.PK! :money:0 -

I've bought and ued the passata and find it absolutely fine - will buy/have bought again.
We don't have an Aldi around here so I simply judge the Tesco Value products on their own merits.
I bought the value hot chocolate (about 40pish for a decent sized tub!) for DH to take to work - he says it's quite sweet but as he has a sweet tooth thats fine for him.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Another vote for the salad cream, it must be ok as the kids eat it and they are a fussy bunch!0

Just bought a bar of Tesco Everyday Value Milk Chocolate for 32p, and to be honest its' quite acceptable. A little sweet compared to Dairy Milk, but if you've only for a few pennies left and want a treat it's definitely not going to disappoint
