Milk powder gone up to £1.59 for 454g (forgot old price), same day as Sains put up their product from £1.01 to £1.40... 400g.
  • I've been trying all the ready meals as I've been a bit skint lately, and when you can buy your evening meals for a week for £5, its definitely worth it!!

Everyday value Chicken tikka - really nice
Everyday value Chicken Korma - again, really good, lots of sauce
Everyday value sweet and sour chicken - lovely
Everyday value sausage and mash - really nice, sausage is a bit odd, but fine for 80p!
    Everyday value Lasagne - lovely
Everyday value - Spagetti bolognaise - really nice

Still a few left to try.

I buy the Everyday value garlic bread and have it with the lasagne and bolognaise, and from the fresh Indian counter, I buy the non Everyday value naan bread for 25p and have with the tikka and korma - so this all makes a good meal for about a pound!!

I realise this isn'y very healthy! But its only a short term solution to get my finiances back on track/see me through a skint month! So I wouldnt recommend you live on this food lol

Ideal for students though, and people with limited money to last until payday!

EV Carrots you will find are good, along with the peas and onions, Lisa. Eggs are fine too. When at parents home they have these ones from the farm around hte corner, but I can acquire my taste to the EV eggs! However I would suggest that 6 EV eggs are 99p, £1.39 for 10 and £1.59 for 15. If you go to Lidl's you get 10 eggs for 99p.

EV Lemonade screams terrible! From my awful kwiksave value days of cola/lemonade, As a kid it's acceptable but you get a taste for Pepsi and it's like Premier league to 4th division demotion when you go back to value! ;)
    PK! :money:

    Thanks pakokelso ..
The mince and carrots and stuff are for lunch today so glad to hear they are ok. The eggs I only really use for yorkie puds or baking so I'm guessing they will be ok.
The kids tried the lemonade with the blackcurrent cordial and seemed to think it was nice - they don't normally have fizzy pop so I don't think they are to fussy yet ;)
Good tip about the eggs though my dad shops aldi/lidl so I think I'll get him to pick some up for me x

Currently munching on some EV multigrain crackers. Fast becoming the families fav biscuit, sweet and savoury at the same time.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

I know, gorgeous aren't they?!:) My (notoriously difficult to please) OH has just been decimating my stock  and said that they're the "best crackers he's ever tasted" - that's quite a statement coming from him! (what can I say, he leads a simple life :rotfl:) When I told him I'd posted on here about them, he said "Why have you done that? Now everyone will know about them and we'll never get any more - they'll always be out of stock" :rotfl: Although I'm convinced that before this happens, Mr T will "new & improve" the recipe, and we all know what that means - yep, they'll ruin them

No probs! :-) I don't know how much the mince you mention is but in Lidl's you can get 800g for £2.49, bit fattier but drain it and bob's your uncle! Can divide it into 4 or 5 bags in the freezer.

Tesco's EV mince is £2.59 in my local store but only 750g. That used to be 800g and £1.99 about 12-15 months ago... amazing! :(
