Tried the value bars of soap couple of months ago and its still by the sink! ie. does not lather or dissipate just slips out of your hands, in fact I think its indestructable.
Did use the baby shampoo for liquid soap but thought is was about 9p, looked for some more and is it 46p or something now? hence buying the bars. Mistake:eek:
I don't have a morrisions so can't buy 9p baby bath, but value shampoo works well is 40p for 1litre however it's on 3 for 2 right now making it 3 litres for 80p.
Thanks i was going to try the bars but i won't now.DEC GC £463.67/£450

The only things I wont touch (or try) is any of the meat, poultry or eggs. Mainly because of the ethics of these products. But I totally understand why others do0

Another vote from me for the value facial wipes. Had been using the Tesco Cucumber wipes but they went up in price, so I've downgraded and won't be switching back!
[Edited to say: I've just clocked on to the fact that the aggrevated skin under and above my eyes coincides with my switch - and checking the back of the packet it does clearly state to avoid the eye area... since taking my eye make-up off is the main reason for using the wipes, I'm afraid I'll be looking for an alternative to both the Tesco Value, and Tesco Cucumber wipes.]
We recently tried the value strawberries at £1 a punnet (normal ones are usually £2 a punnet) and to be honest I can't fault them. Have paid more than double that for some pretty naff strawbs in the past. These work just as well with choccy cake and cream
Also our store recently started stocking value grapes at 99p for a 500g box (£1.98/kg). We had been buying the loose white grapes in a bag at £3.47/kg. I would say you can tell the difference, the size of grapes in the value pack are more variable, and on average probably a little smaller than the loose grapes, but for such a huge saving, they do just fine, and we are sticking with the value ones
Oh, and I also second the value sultanas. Can't tell the difference, and am even happier throwing them generously into muffins knowing it's not costing me 50p a tablespoon0 -
I have a small local Tesco, which doesnt stock full ranges of value products, so get all of my big shop delivered. And i have started to buy everything value. And with most things, fish in butter sauce fishfingers, etc i cant tell the difference.Same with lasagne sheets pasta tomato sauce tinned veg etc. The only things i buy now that are branded are toilet paper, washing powder, washing up liquid and crisps!!0

The tortilla chips are really nice. They are salted rather than flavoured like doritos, but I actually prefer this. They dont taste like cardboard (which I think doritos do). I use them for making chilli con carne - either as a side dish with or without melted cheese on, or as a bulking out thing by crushing them up slightly and just mixing them into the chilliOnly two people away from a threesome :grouphug:£2017 in 2017 = 0

The things I like are all of the biscuits (especially the chocolate bourbons), salted tortilla chips, frozen peas, tinned kidney beans, dry pasta, apple sauce, crisps and OH likes the frozen sausage rolls.
The only value things I've tried that I didn't like are the coco pops, muesli (that was really bad) and eggs.0 -
I just wanted to mention that it may be worth stocking up on the value (or basics or any other economy range) right now as the Christmas stuff is starting to arrive, once it hits the 6 weeks 'till Xmas mark most if not all the value range will appear to vanish and all the over priced Christmas products will be put in its place. Happens every year and always takes people aback.
thanks i didnt know this
we was abit shocked to find the value freezer bags and the value potatoe hoops had vanishedMember #64 £2012 in 2012 challenge total so far: £714.54/£20120 -
I bought in Asda a bag of their 7p Batter Mix. I was stuck for what to do the family for tea as I had 5 left over sausages, so I made Toad in the hole. The mix was really easy to make up with 1 egg and 200ml water. Just laid the 5 sausages evenly in a baking tray and poured over the made up mix. They have 7p batter mix in Tesco too.Still virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)

The 9p parsley sauce mix is really nice.
I wish they'd do a cheese sauce mix at that price. However, parsley sauce pasta bake is perfectly acceptable. 1/2 pt of Creamyfields milk is only 12.5p to make it up with.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
As already previously stated, Jaffa Cakes are great at 85p for 24 and New Potatoes in a tin for 19p is a bargain.
Spaghetti at 20-25p a tin tastes fine.
Will have to try out some of the other things that i've been a little bit fearful of trying as they seem to get good reviews here.0
