Following feedback from forums such as MSE and the android Play Store, we have released an update to the app that covers issues some users found with a couple of the original design features of the app.
We hope the update addresses many of the issues highlighted here and we have noted from some users that the new release has already allowed them to successfully record their journeys.“Official Company Representative

Thank you for the developing the app and releasing it for free.
Whilst I appreciate that its a step on your way to pay-per-drive insurance, it should allow me to improve my driving.
You and I should be aligned on that; if I am a better driver then you get reduced claims (whether you are my insurer or not) and hopefully I get lower premiums.
But at the moment the rating system is opaque; in fact it is so opaque that my attempts to improve my ratings has mostly achieved the opposite.
If you want to change my behaviour then you need to make the feedback much more explicit and much more immediate.
At least give a score breakdown on the 'My Journeys' tab; and if at all possible provide audio feedback at the time of the lapse.
Looking forward to continuing improvements.0 -
Well, after doing the miles today I came home from work and found a £25 cheque from confused.com waiting for me!
HOWEVER!!!!
.... a closer look at the cheque reveals it is dated 19/03/12 - outside the six months I believe the guidelines for cheque acceptance.
So what do I do now?
Bank the cheque and hope it is honoured? Or would I be putting myself at risk of bank charges?
Any advice is welcome!0 -
Same happened to me. Cheque was dated March 2012. I didn't notice and when I tried to pay it the bank refused to accept it. Looking on Google Play store it looks like this has happened to several people.
I emailed the company but unsurprisingly haven't heard anything back from them.
What a waste of time.0 -
I havn't had a cheque yet but still unsure if I put the correct email address on the website so need to check that. Really not impressed about the dates on the cheques I've been reading about here!
This is the second app I've downloaded as a result of the MSE email and both times it's been a nightmare. Not good."Why, this is hell, nor am I out of it."0 -
I too have received the back dated cheque!!
What i've done so far is googlebox for a telephone number and after some trial and error, I did eventually get through to a number which was answered by someone from Admiral Insurance and asked to transfer to someone at customer service from confused.com.
I spoke to a lady there who couldn't be more apologetic and did say that the cheques are usually done in batches but hadn't known of any other complaints so far (this was on 24/09/12 @ about 9:30am).
She was going to notify the accounts department and hopefully have a new cheque sent out as soon as possible. So i guess all i can do at the moment is wait and see.
I stupidly didn't take a note of the number i called but i think it was 0871 703 7200. If this isn't the one just google "confused.com telephone number" and work through the numbers that appear there. I didn't bother hanging on with the ones that start with an automated message for some kind of home insurance claimline but i think they appear nearer the top of the search results.
Hope this helps the "confused" drivers out there!!0 -
Dear MSE forum users,
For those who have already been issued a cheque for their MotorMate usage, we have noted that some customers are experiencing issues cashing their cheque. Due to an administrative error the cheques carry an incorrect date of 16 March 2012. Unfortunately these cheques will no longer be valid to cash at your bank or building society.
We're really sorry if you've been effected by this and any inconvenience this may have caused. New cheques will be reissued shortly and sent to you in the post. Please destroy your old cheque as it will be invalid.
If you experience further problems cashing your cheque drop us an email at motormateadmin@confused.com“Official Company Representative
