I believe it says somewhere on Pepipoo that the standard ban is three months, although it's not been confirmed that this is the case for Perky.

It also suggests that DVLA has introduced or is in the process of introducing new rules such that the ban applies to any incident occurring during the ban period, so he can't just save them up.

It's on this pepipoo news thread and it says 'for a minimum of 3 months':

The BPA is also about to introduce an updated Code of Practice which I think we may get to hear about soon. Interesting times. :)

Presumably to reflect RK "liability" and the appeals process.

I'm thinking of setting up a website with a "league table" of notices and appeals. Contestants would register, and then simply email or upload a copy of each notice received and each appeal decision. A notice gets a point, an appeal decision (either way!) gets a further 2 points!

A fabulous prize for each month's winner!

(Well probably not that fabulous if I'm paying for it!)

    I wonder why......?
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.
  • Then, in the fullness of time, you could start a similar scheme as
fantasy football. You could call it Fantasy Fines.

The person who reported the breach by CPS wants to encourage all of us to follow their lead against any other PPCs you know and can prove, are breaching the BPA COP. The person says:

''CPS were suspended for one simple reason - the DVLA were told. What I'm saying is that it's dead easy, gather the evidence, include some photos and off you go, anyone can do it. ''

So any signs or letters which say the rk is responsible (Sept) = report to the DVLA not the BPA.

Any use of the word 'penalty' or 'fine' or any other breach of the BPA code of practice = report to the DVLA saying you have no faith in the BPA - a members club with no regulatory powers - to address it.

  • Would that include Parking Eye signs that say they will clamp for previously unpaid parking charges?

I complained to the BPA but they did nothing.

Yes I believe that is against the COP.

Not only that, Parking Eye are NOT registered as clampers in their listing under the AOS membership so wouldn't have SIA licensed immobilisers:

I have just noticed that PE have a tick in the column for 'debt recovery' which is strange, the only other ones are debt collectors. Very odd, might be worth including in the complaint to Mr Evans of the DVLA that when you checked the AOS membership online records it's clear that PE are not clampers so the Notice is misleading and unlawful, and ask why the BPA have them down as debt collectors when you do not believe they have a CCA licence (do they?).

While out and about yesterday I had reason to stop at a service area on one of the main roads. The signs in the car parking area use the phrase 'Fixed Penalty Charge'. I'll be making a point of getting some pictures and sending the DVLA a letter ASAP.

The more 'dung' we can cause to rain down on PPCs the better as far as I'm concerned. :T:T:T

Presumably a letter of complaint to the local Trading Standards would also cause the PPC an unwelcome level of attention.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
