  • At last..managed to update/root/install ICS. However, I now have a weird Chinese symbol when I switch on the phone. I think it's the boot up screen.

Is there any way of changing it back to the english Huawei logo?

don't know how to change it to the Huawei logo...I'm sure there must be a way, but have found this post, to change it to a Google logo (if it bothers you that much, that is?)

Edit : Just found this post too, with some other alternatives. Check post #33

  • Will have to find the instructions on how to do it. I'm a total newbie when it comes to android smartphones.

From what I've read - you just copy the .zip file (from the 'splash screen' post) to your SD card.
Start the phone in clockwork mode, and run the .zip file.
I'm a total noob to this rooting malarky...although the above looks easy enough, I don't know whether my daugher finds the logo offensive enough to want to change it.
It's only there for the short time that the phone is booting up anyway - and seeing as she hardly ever turns her phone off...it's probably not even worth bothering about.

You can still get it from isme for around £69 +£4 delivery (£6 cashback too via tcb = £67).

    Use code 2B7MN (£30 off £99 price)

    (Expires in 2 days.)

Thanks very much for this Quentin, like others I have visited my local Tesco at Shrewsbury today and found that the phone £80 on Vodafone, reduced from £100. The deal you have pointed out is very good, but it does entail opening a £1000 credit account with the store in order to get the reduction. Forgive me for being thick, but I've never taken out credit. Is it possible to enter into the agreement but pay for the purchase in full and avoid any interest charges? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hmm, thanks for that - did they have many in stock?

Were there any further discounts on it?

Thats how I bought mine - and 'Yes' - you dont pay a penny in the first instance - the phone arrives next day - enjoy it for about 2 weeks - invoice arrives with payment options for terms or full payment - pay it in full

    done deal
When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?

They had only one in stock on Vodafone at £80 reduced from £100! I almost bought it as, from what I've read it is a good buy, but I thought that if I couldn't buy it at £65 I would wait for the new version that comes out in November. I'm now going to get the offer available on isme :)
