Same as in our house with 2 teenage lasses, they use the toilet roll as a "boxers mitt" and wrap god knows how much just to wipe the front bits as you can see the paper is still clean. Bloody annoying as keep telling them they will bung the toilet up and it's the only toilet in the whole house!! I was that incensed at them not taking a blind bit of notice after pulling them up for god know's how many times, I "dug"out a boxer's mitt and it was still clean and there was about 10 sheets just clagged together. They thought it was disgusting me digging it outa the pan, but I had to prove a point....lol:cool:0 -
We discovered bidet showers when visiting Finland a couple of years ago. Virtually every toilet (public and private) has one.
When I got home I installed one next to the loo.
It's the best thing I ever did.
The water temperature is thermostatically controlled so the jet spray is nice and warm.
There is no need to use paper at all and you get ultra clean without touching anything at all.
Just need a square to dry off.0 -
There are certain things in life I will never compromise on. One of them is loo roll. We've tried the cheaper stuff and pretty much all the ones we tried were awful in comparison to the branded stuff.0

I use Asda's oen toilet roll NOT the basic one I mean!
I buy Asda's own brand toilet roll. It's cheap and soft but do get other brands if they're on offer. Poundland does Andrex and Nouvelle now!

When I was a youngster just after the war it was usually squares cut from a newspaper and hung from a nail in the outside loo that you used. My mother used to iron the newspaper with a flat iron heated over the open fire before it went to the loo. This gave a cleaner wipe keeping a lot of printing ink off your bum. The loo key was hung in the hall attached by a loop of string to an empty cotton reel. As a treat we sometimes got some of the tissue paper that oranges came in from the local greengrocer. These were the good old days.
Today try two toilet roll holders one above the other. The top one having any cheap old toilet paper with the good stuff on the lower one. It makes people think about what they are using. The cheap stuff for the odd bit of cleaning that doesn't need anything special and which can be used to bulk out the good stuff.0 -

I visited a friend and she had a combined loo/bidet installed but I didn't know about it ........ they probably heard my scream on the space station when I did find out.0 -

I agree with this, and am very fussy with my loo roll! I find this a lot softer than Triple Velvet (which I don't like anyway as it never tears at the perforated lines for me!) and it's a lot cheaper.
Farmfoods kitchen roll is great too. These are the only 2 things I go to Farmfoods for!0 -
I haven't read all of the thread so I'm sorry if another bum like me already mentioned it but loo roll can be acquired from restaurant, department store, pub, public and other bathrooms. I don't advocate stealing from the little guy but if you know it's one of the tax avoiding, off shoring, multi-million pound corperations then I won't loose any sleep.
Another option is to take your daily (or however often you) shower after you go poopy. I worked with a guy once whose bathroom I used and noticed a giant industrial bog roll from work. It was pretty funny.
I might make it a hobby or something. Or go around the different supermarkets one day and see how many I can get.0 -
I find the best way is to give a couple of wipes and the clean my !!!! In the sink. Difficult to do at work ( read the book How To Poo At Work) but disabled looks are areal boon these days0
