Seriously, I read this thread and a short while later I went to spend a penny... as I took hold of the toilet roll this thread came into my mind and I immediately took 50% less than normal!!

  • I do think all TP should be made from recycled paper, don't you? I used to use Nouvelle, however, I've recently discovered coushelle and find it very good indeed! but why koalas???????????
  • Whilst at uni I developed a fool-proof "concertina" method. Coupled with shopping at an American out of Town Mega-Mart (Macro/Costco) I got a years worth of Loo roll for £36.

Rip off a length of 5 sheets and fold them concertina-like. After a wipe, rip a sheet off, generally done in 3 wipes. Sometimes I use more.

During a bowel movement the morning after night-out I rip of a length of 6 sheets.

Ps. Since I started trimming my anal beard I use 50% less paper due to 50% fewer cling-ons.
PPs. Loving the petroleum jelly idea!
  • Buy triple velvet from costco when they offer them in their monthly offers.
They work out at 25p per roll.
  • Please do not put wet wipes down the toilet. They cause lots of problems. As for the number of sheets to use, 3 should do the job. 1 up, 1 down and 1 polish.
  • An absorbing thread that brought back nasty memories of Izal and of dock leaf efforts in the boy scouts.
For me, any cheap modern toilet tissue, folded over three times, repeated as necessary, followed by a flushable washlet or two for pristine finish. (Interim flushing may be required in some cases.)
I'd rather not economise too much in this area and doubt that massive savings can be made.
I note various posts advocated special body positioning. Interesting but not practical if you also use the smallest room as a quiet reading room too.
Since so many have posted about this particular toilet topic, maybe someone can advise on "bombproof" toilet seats. Modern flimsy plastic fittings apparently can't cope with the massive torque generated by my lift cheek and twist to wipe action, unlike the old wooden seat with sturdy brass fittings crappers of old. Judging by the number of unserviceable toilet seats I find, John Prescott and I can't be the only ones seeking a solution to this issue.
  • This is such a funny topic in that when we were young the local newspaper was cut up an in the outdoor toilet, I actually get the newspapers free from the local library, theya re a week old, so here set the scene, off into the toilet, read the paper then wipe, ha ha, prefer my lidl quality recycled toilet roll, doesnt disintegrate and wipes cleanX3 squares.

havent you people out there heard of NICKY loo rolls, excellent tissue, and always the best price £4 for 18:beer:
Absolutely agree!! We do use wet loo roll wipes as well though.

I never even bother looking at the supermarket offers, as at £2 for 9 with Nicky you are usually better off in the end anyway, plus the quality is loads better than 90% of the stuff in the supermarket.
If you are short of space (which we are), you don't need to buy 18 rolls as the 9 rolls is just as good value.

Haven't we got to the bottom of this yet?
  • Cushelle for me, £7.99 for 24 rolls in Lidl. I find other rolls leave crumbs behind..ugh. Two sheets ample for no.1's and for no.2's I use fragrance free toilet training wipes from Wilkinson's, says it's flushable on the instructions on back of packet.
