    Toilet paper is laminated.
    To economise separate the layers.
Don't worry if your fingers go through; because with the money you save you can afford a bar of soap.

Consider switching to using a Bidet. Drastically reduces the amount of toilet paper required.

We too use a bidet, they are so much more gentle on the skin, clean really well and our kinder to the environment.

When we built an en-suite we had a bidet installed, however, it was so difficult to locate either a reasonably priced bathroom with a bidet, or a single bidet on its own. None of the big retailers such as B&Q or Homebase have them instore, they have to be ordered in.

Just recently we built an en-suite on to our holiday home, especially to get a bidet, as there is no space to add one to the existing bathroom, again we had difficulty sourcing a bidet. When we spoke to the big stores none of them had a bidet in their showrooms. They said there really isn't a demand for them.

Even our builder, who is installing the bidet in the holiday home, didn't know how one was used and initially placed it too close to the wall thinking it was sat on like a toilet, rather than facing the taps!

I aim for 50p a roll of reasonably quality toilet tissue for added value.

(Velvet @ Iceland were great as I could get 6 rolls for £2)

My recent favourite was from Ocado where they had a deal on the scented fresh linen toilet tissue (fragrant inner tube). Really nice.

Using toilet paper is disgusting! If you got poo on any other part of your body would you be satisfied to smear it about with a piece of paper? In 100 years time people will read about toilet paper with the revulsion that we read about past people emptying chamber pots in the road. Take a shower!

In 100 years time people will have figured out how the 3 seashells work, so toilet paper will no longer be necessary.

In the meantime, I'm siding with the 'get paid to poo - go at work' crowd.
  • Don't use any at all. Import one of the Korean toilets that will clean your **** with no contact at all. Press button = water spray, press another button = air to dry. Simples!

  • I buy Savana from QD. A pack of 9 costs £1.29 however they have a multibuy offer so you can get 18 rolls for only £2. Sure the quality is very basic but does a decent job given its purpose. :)
  • Can't believe what a load of wimps you alleged MSE die-hards have become. If you're keen to save dosh then it has to apply to all aspects of your life and you can't just cave in when it comes to loo roll. I've conducted extensive research on this over many years, comparing brands and quality & prices. Currently I'm recommending the Lidl Floralys Luxury brand at £3.29 for 9 rolls (occasionally they do the 4 roll pack for a pound so that's a real bargain). The paper is good quality and is smooth, unlike quilted varieties which have the effect of making you think it's a nice chunky loo roll, when it ain't. Avoid all scented and coloured types as it is best for your health to keep chemicals away from your nether regions (advice from a urologist).
  • Oh this thread has given me such a good laugh.:rotfl:
I've noticed that when we're on holiday we seem to go through a lot more toilet paper than we do at home, even though we're out sightseeing for most of the time.
Finally in the french supermarkets we visited they sold black and red toilet paper too. Just thought I'd mention it.
