It's hard to believe people are happy to have a bin containing adult human faeces hanging around in a bathroom for hours.

Presumably it is only like a nappy bucket, it would be OK as long as they kept the lid on, probably they have some milton or something in the bucket as well. It would be better than having a cat litter tray or something.

Personally I think life is too short and would rather resort to using old newspaper and books if I got that hard up. Fortunately I'm not..... yet.

Forgive my ignorance but I've never used one of these water flush washing gadgets. Will somebody explain exactly how you use them without spraying water all over your clothes and the floor?

My advice would be to stick it up your..... :D

From Malaysia / Thai experience, it's generally a long bendy hose and a gentle stream rather than high pressure jet, with a single hand trigger on handle to initiate water flow, stops on release of trigger.
Grab hose one handed, finger on trigger. Front method is hand between legs holding handle or the from behind method leaning forward; always done while seated or nearly seated over bowl. Once positioned near target, initiate trigger, waste water falls into bowl. Release trigger to stop, and replace to holder. Dry and done.
I thought they were brilliant and want to install one here when I move. (Move house, not move bowels....)

They always say be kinder to the environment and be green. Hence, I've resorted to using leaves off the tree in my back garden.

  • Get a shataf & loo roll lasts forever or seems to. just use paper to dry yourself.
  • Advocates of using wet wipes especially for number twos may be interested that the results of flushing them is a blocked pipe so an ideal solution is to add them to your compost for tomato growing. No need to buy expensive nutrient rich compost and the unique flavour of the matured crop is unbeatable.
  • You could just use your hand - then there would be no need for loo paper. Won't cost any more as you wash your hands afterwards anyhow.
  • We use recycled loo paper, with some 'botty lotion' (cheap body lotion) for comfort, cleanliness, & frugality!:j
