Here's a question for you goater.
Sat that you purchased a 1st class airline ticket to go from the UK to the USA but when you got to the airport you were only able to travel in economy due to overbooking of 1st class.
As the outcome was the same in that you got from A to B in the correct time, and you were delivered to your destination, would you say that the airline carried out their contract successfully?
I am not surprised you have come up with another ridiculous example (It is your USP). They are not comparable. The difference in price between a 1st class ticket and an economy ticket is several thousands pounds. In addition there is a tangiable benefit in the first class experience as opposed to an economy seat. Therefore if the above scenario had happened then I would have no issue with the OP complaining about that.
In the actual complaint whether the OP has signed for that parcel or not has no actual benefit for the OP. They have noticed no material difference for not signing on receipt of the delivery. They have received the parcel they have paid for, on time and undamaged. The point of paying for a signed for service is to unsure that happens. It is an added layer of insurance. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Ridiculous because it makes your argument look weak perhaps?
How about a different example then, something closer to the matter at hand.
Would you be upset if you paid £8 for something to be delivered by Special delivery, and when the postie brought it the next day, you found that the seller had only paid 80p for 1st class delivery?
If there was no difference in delivery time and the goods were delivered in an undamaged condition, what's wrong with sellers doing this and pocketing the extra money?0 -

Thats a better example, well done. To be honest I wouldn't actually mind, as long as my parcel turned up on time(and undamaged) I wouldn't be overly bothered on the method of delivery.
Of course if my parcel arrived late and this had happened I would have of course kicked off big time and demanded a refund! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

The actual delivery was successful. The outcome of the delivery was successful eg the OP has her parcel, on time, undamaged. The fact no signature was obtained does not make it an unsuccessful delivery.
Part of the delivery was to obtain a signature, this has not been done so the delivery has not been successful.
What if for example they had been delivering vital legal documents for which proof of delivery had to be shown to a judge? Would the outcome in such situation also be successful?0 -

It would have been successful for the receiver (as they have received the documents). It would have been unsuccessful for the sender as they have not achieved the signature they require to prove the documents have been sent. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. X postie's point of view.
Too many posties are not doing the job properly. It means they can complete in the allocated time. This then leaves the guys that do do the job properly under pressure.
TBH Honeydog. I doubt very much like that tracking will update. I doubt he's forged your signature, just failed to obtain one. I used to work with one postie in particular who would throw recorded items through windows when they weren't home. The management didn't really care as it was one less item brought back to the DO. And this was an old school postie.
Forget the late issue, RM can deliver up until 4pm in some places now. Yes, I know in some places they run even later than that, usually to cover sickness or staff shortages. The lateness isn't an issue, even if the postie was running late, it's no excuse.
I would definitely have followed what you have done and complain about it. Although, I do feel as an x postie that I don't want to get former colleagues into trouble. But have also had to complain about finding mail in the street because a certain postie was rushing the job.
Unfortunately as I've said before, it gives all posties the bad name, and I'd actually say there are probably only 1 or 2 in each office.
It's the same with most courier companies, if you get a good one, they are great, if you get a bad one it can definitely make life a lot harder4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0
