Royal Mail Signed For parcel thrown through open window!

I was making the point that the parcel had a long way to fall he didn't just lean in and let it drop gently.
How would know that? Blimey, talk about mountains and molehills.
Talk about dramatic- 'he hurled it through the window'. Hurling something would imply that he stood back and lobbed it at the window from a distance at the risk of breaking the window. Can you honestly see a postie doing that. To put something through an open window intentionally you would have to stand right up to the window - either that or be a cracking good shot.
Complain when you dont get your delivery or get a damaged delivery but lifes too short to get worked up over something so trivial.0 -
When i deliver parcels for work i wont falsify signatures and leave the parcel in the porch as notes tend to ask me to do. I have a a simple philosophy, you order you should be in, simple. Consequently i take the parcel to my next post office to be collected, that can be upto 10 miles away, even if there is one 100 yard back up the street, i aint turning around as i have enough to do. Refer back to my little ditty, you order you should be in.0

X postie's point of view.
Too many posties are not doing the job properly. It means they can complete in the allocated time. This then leaves the guys that do do the job properly under pressure.
TBH Honeydog. I doubt very much like that tracking will update. I doubt he's forged your signature, just failed to obtain one. I used to work with one postie in particular who would throw recorded items through windows when they weren't home. The management didn't really care as it was one less item brought back to the DO. And this was an old school postie.
Forget the late issue, RM can deliver up until 4pm in some places now. Yes, I know in some places they run even later than that, usually to cover sickness or staff shortages. The lateness isn't an issue, even if the postie was running late, it's no excuse.
I would definitely have followed what you have done and complain about it. Although, I do feel as an x postie that I don't want to get former colleagues into trouble. But have also had to complain about finding mail in the street because a certain postie was rushing the job.
Unfortunately as I've said before, it gives all posties the bad name, and I'd actually say there are probably only 1 or 2 in each office.
It's the same with most courier companies, if you get a good one, they are great, if you get a bad one it can definitely make life a lot harder
Mazza I said I wouldn't discuss it til I got another reply from RM but you've shared a lot of thoughts with me and I appreciate you giving your point of view so I'll reply.
About the lateness. I know what you're saying but 99% of our mail deliveries arrive before 2pm. Sometimes it is earlier than 11 and sometimes it is later but if it hasn't come by 2pm we know haven't got any mail that day basically. That's how predictable it is. So for it to arrive so late is really out of the ordinary.
We've definitely got more than 2 different posties. I'd say that I've seen up to 6 different ones at different times. Sometimes you don't get the same one two days running.
The point of complaining is to let RM know that what their employee did is not acceptable to me as a customer and must not happen again for a host of different reasons.
We used to have an amazing postie - the world's best one. The same guy every day and he was lovely. But he lost his daughter young and took some time off but never came back to work after that. Before that the previous one was lovely too - she lived in the village and was a school friend's Mum. She did the job for about 10 years!
Then all the changes happened with RM and it has really never been the same since. You book redeliveries to a Post Office and they don't turn up on time. When you chase it you get 3 different explanations according to who you ask.
...
To those people on this thread who don't care what happens to their parcels - that's fine. But I do care what happens to the goods I spend my hard-earned on and I'm not budging on that. I really don't get why people today believe that simply expecting someone to do the job they are paid for is some terrible form of abuse.
Phew.. that's better.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

Good point well made. I wouldn't have had a problem with a red card last week. The best part about the red card is that when you order a redelivery the customer can then choose the day it comes back on so it is easy to pick a day when someone is around. I did try having one sent to the local PO - never again since they all made such a hash of it. I sound like I'm really unlucky with parcels don't I.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

I have seen it. I worked with one like that. I am the first one to stick up for posties on the whole, but as I've previously said, it just takes one bad one...
If you went to get your car serviced and found out they had used 2nd hand parts or whatever, would you complain or say, oh well the car's running, that's the main thing...
It's about getting the service that you pay for. If I've paid to get something delivered with a signature at the end, that's the service I expect to receive.
Honey, the postie probably thought they were doing you a favour in all honesty. I don't know why they do this as it does put their job at risk, unfortunately, some always will do it.
It sounds like your delivery round is one that either doesn't have a signed postie or is one of the ones that is lapsed. Each postie takes out a bit of a duty, because RM reckon that mail is lighter in the summer. I would say yes, it is lighter, but those xmas catalogues seem to appear from midsummer4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Hopefully next week we'll find out the reason. I'm just glad that the dog was out with me otherwise he would've eaten the parcel after it landed on the floor! He's still a youngster and LOVES cardboard!Don't grow up. Its a trap!

Honeydog...
...after reading all 5 pages of this wonderfully funny thread...i'm still puzzled...if you were out with the dog...who was in the bath ???0 -
An elderly relative who was very startled by the noise of the parcel crashing to the floor.
Another reason I'm hacked off at RM.
Don't grow up. Its a trap!
