There's another thread over on jobseeking which has some very interesting posts about the current state of RM. I now know why this happened and why RM don't care.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

You mean the casual work force? I'm sure they aren't all like this, as I've said, I've even seen old timers doing this shoddy practice of not getting a signature for a recorded4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

I think the number of people who have said that they like their postie signing for stuff just points towards it being an 'unofficial' acceptable delivery method. Which is fine if you know and trust your postie. Sadly I've lost confidence in whoever mine was last Wednesday.
He had no way of knowing what was in that parcel and yet he chose to throw it through a window and let it crash to the floor. It is exactly like those cctv videos you see of courier companies whose employees chuck parcels over gates and call that a delivery! Except that given that RM delivered my parcel I somehow expected a better, more professional level of service. Shame I didn't get it. Sign of the times I suppose.
Anyway, I don't think anyone is interested in what happens next so I'll just let this thread sink. Thanks to those who provided considered opinions and to those who brightened my day yesterday with their wit. Cheers.
I had a similar experience to you on a number of occasions. Items worth £800+ were left on my doorstep on many occasions. These were essential orthopaedic appliances, necessary for me to be able to walk.
It is almost impossible to sue Royal Mail but the individual postie can be held criminally liable. I used that as leverage and only resolved the problem by getting the Police involved.0 -

It is on that thread where someone wants to be a postie and someone else talks about young blokes and running around carelessly not getting sigs being the only way to get it done in the time.
I'm pretty sure I've tracked down the likely perpetrator. He drove his Pat van right up onto the pavement at the bottom of our road yesterday narrowly missing me and the dog. Short baldy bloke. Bet it was him.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

That's awful Paul.
I asked to be informed as to why the postie had taken the action he did with my parcel but it seems like that information is classified. I guess I'll chalk it down to his laziness then.Don't grow up. Its a trap!

they left special deliveries on the door step? I'm assuming sent by Special Delivery if worth £800+0 -
They were always going to email something like that. As I have previously said its a very very minor complaint (which obviously the post office agree with)
Frankly I think the only way you would have been happy is if the post office had personally delivered the head of the postman in a box to your house (and asked for a signature to confirm receipt of the head)
I think you protest a little too much. Read your comment on the other Royal Mail thread. Maybe you should take your own advice and get over it? Sometimes people will post up things that you don't agree with but, you know, you've just gotta let these things slide.
Your own advice by the way.0 -

I believe my comment on the other Royal Mail was just laughing about the fact the poster was referencing this story again. I found it funny as she had not noticed that she had previously commented on the same thread with the same story.
I am unsure why you want to start an argument about something i posted 6 months ago. I suspect you are fishing for some sort of online exchange of insults. Life's too shortThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
