I'm having 200 for my wedding breakfast. WE are on a budget so I go most of my favours from ebay. I got personalised bookmarks 30 for £5. They have a poam the bride and grooms name, the date of the wedding and an image. I got little boxes and sugared almonds to fill them with, the boxes were 25p each. They doe lot's of other stuff matchbooks, napkins and much more.0

I'm also using the sweet idea nic82. What I have decided to do is theme my tables as sweets and on each table put a bowl or two with a mixture of all the sweets.
I have 80 people for my wedding breakfast and wasnt sure if I should do favors or not so decided on this as the cheaper option. What isnt eaten will carry on into the evening for everyone else to tuck into!0 -
I don't think favours are necessary but they're quite nice to have.
I had crackers at mine! I had them made by someone I found on the internet, they cost about £30 for about 50 and they were made to match the colour scheme. She sent me a few samples to see which I wanted. You can have them filled with almonds or whatever if you wanted but this was extra.
Instead I bought some lindt mini eggs that were reduced after Easter and used these and wrote a little message in each one. For any children that were there I put in some mini choc buttons, mini pencils and puut a small colouring book at their seat.
The crackers also came with a name tag on them so they also doubled up as place settings! I think the total cost came to about £40 for 50.:smileyhea0 -
I got married a couple of months ago and had little bags of retro childhood sweets as favours. A bit like nic82's idea.
I bought a whole load of mini love hearts/parma violets/drumsticks/dibdabs etc.
put them in a clear bag thingy that I got from a craft shop and tied them with a big ribbon.
It was amazing how quickly everyone devoured them! Plus it made everyone feel nostaligic about their childhood.
In total, I think it cost me about £45.
I've been to weddings that have had quite different favours. I've been to one where everyone got a champagne glass with the couple's names and date etched on it. Very expensive but really naff looking.
I've also been to one where they had 2 chocolates in a cute little box which doubled up as a place setting. This was very popular.
A little gift is always nice to receive but I certainly wouldn't spend a lot of money on favours. I remember counting plenty of the champagne glasses that were left on the tables at the end of the night!! However, all the chocolates got eaten and were appreciated!!0 -

We got married last year and put out bowls of sweets on the table (bootlaces, cola cubes etc) - everyone loved them and they got eaten very quickly! Its a great idea and gets people talking if you put a different type of sweet on each table, so they have to wander around and swap bowls (probably not so good if you want a very formal sit-down meal though!).
We didn't have that many people going so we also bought everyone a lottery ticket as a favour, we rolled them up, tied them with ribbon and put them in everyones wine glass - this also went down well even though the biggest win was £10!0 -
We never had them and to be honest, I think they are an unnecessary expense. Most of them will probably end up in the bin. Weddings can get completely out of hand costwise - it is a cliche, but remember that the wedding is just one day - it is the marriage that is important.
If there are going to be children there, then party bags with small activities in are a good idea, but otherwise, have them if you want them, don't have them if you don't. Don't feel like you SHOULD have them."Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."0 -
I have booked a childrens entertainer during my wedding breakfast, and letting the kids have their own party in a seperate room. This way their parents can ejoy themselves and the kids wont get bored.
Hopefully everyone is a winner :j0 -
My friends wedding we were at a couple of years ago also did lottery tickets rolled up and tied with the coloured ribbon that went with their colours.
Our wedding my DH's mum passed away before we met and her favourite sweet was Ferrero Rocher so we bought loads of boxes of them and wrapped them individually with net and the coloured ribbon to match our theme. We had around 100 of them and piled them up in a big carry basket and sent the bridesmaids around handing them out and chatting.Bringing up 2 handsome boys and 1 gorgeous girl the MSE way!Joseph born 19th December 2001Matthew born 8th August 2007Tara born 23rd January 20110 -
