Thats exactly what my sister did - I think my mum is holding back a bit in case I do the same :rolleyes:0 -

Your experience sounds awful. I won't let my mother dictate the day [I am not as young as you were - sadly] Did your mother try to get involved in your second wedding?
The trouble is alot of my cousins invited me to their weddings [although I didn't go - they all live 200+ miles away] I am inviting them back - cos I feel I should, but I am hoping they won't all make the effort to come. Unfortunately I won't know the numbers before booking the venue so that is why I don't know what to do.0 -
My Mam is semi-involved in this wedding! I keep saying I've seen ....... and showing her, and asking if it's ok so she thinks she's involved........
I'm older and wiser now
Don't feel obliged to invite people. My cousin came to mine, but she as since moved down to the south coast and we just keep in touch by the odd letter, Christmas card etc now. She hasn't invited me to her forthcoming wedding, and I'm not offended. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Weggy wrote:I'm having the same feelings. Friends are always around, and we share the most time with them. Some cousins, I havent seen for years. Why should I pay £50 for them to come and share out special day, in place of a friend?!
Exactly!! My prob is some cousins I am in touch with occasionally and others never - the trouble is I keep in touch with one member of a family but not their brother or sister. I can't really invite one sibling without the other, espaecially if their parents are coming :mad:0 -
Anyone know of any good places to get rings from as we were browsing in town today and went into H Samuels and when we said date of wedding they just scoffed and said we have left it last minute and then went on to say order of rings would take 10 days!:rotfl: so won't be going there then!
Idealy i like the celtic type rings just now but don't want to pay a fortune for them.
Also just a quick note to say i am getting my tartan dress from scotch corner, as bf has said he will pay for it:j0 -

The Old Blacksmiths Forge in Gretna sells celtic style rings, which are really nice.
