  • Congrats everyone on your weddings!!

I have worked in the hotel industry for 20 years and the biggest money saving tip I can give you is...

Dont have a free bar!!!!! Whatever you do ... use a voucher system if you insist.. the reason being is not because of your guests.. but because of the bar manager wringing his hands with glee because you WILL be helping his stock!! IE you order a round.. the bar staff add on a couple of drinks.

Believe me I know I have worked in some fine establishments and have seen it go on... this small tip will save whoever is picking up to bar tab a tidy sum.

If you want to do drinks for your guests, arrange a voucher system and one that you can tally up at the end when it is bill time.

My OH and I will be getting married in a couple of years and we were talking about it and he said that we must have an open bar.. and I told him not on his nelly!!!! He understood once I had explained.

Hope this helps!!! I don't want to frighten anyone but believe me this WILL go on!!

    its shocking isnt it !!

ive also heard that when couples provide their own bottles of wine / champers to ask to see the corks & empty bottles afterwards !! as hotel staff will say its all gone when really they are swiping a few bottles for themselves !!
  • I've seen that a few people have mentioned e-bay for tiaras but they often have flowers on. Anyone know of places you can get beaded ones cheap or even where i could get supplies to make one?

I was wondering if anyone had heard/had any experience of the Confetti wish list? https://www.confetti.co.uk/wishlists

I am wanting money from my guests rather than physical gifts (been together for years - got what we need). It seemed a good way to recieve money, but it costs £15 to set up. Are there any other websites/companys that will allow guests to give money in a similar way?

    Thanks everyone.
A BIG thank you everyone who takes the time to reply my posts :hello:

    hi & congrats :)

have you thought about looking online ? see what you like / dont like and what sort of price range you will be looking towards
also it doesnt have to be a wedding dress ?,there are lots of dresses suitable for a beach wedding or also bridesmaid dresses, much cheaper and you can get them in ivory / crema etc if you wanted to be traditional :)

sales are generally jan & summer i think but have a look out for any bridal fayres advertised locally and go along, good fun and you get to know local suppliers / retailers

    have fun planning :)
