    Hi all,

I'd like to introduce myself! My fiancee and I are getting married on Saturday 21st Feb 2015 :).

We have just booked our reception venue and evening entertainment, and have sent emails regarding the cake, photographer, church, flowers and string quartet (we spoke to our vicar and the date is available, it's just not officially booked yet).

Regarding the string quartet, we have found a website called "musicstudentsforhire" which offers young student musicians to play at your wedding or other event for a reduced cost. They are still very talented musicians, as they are all either music undergraduate students or have recently graduated. You can also listen to their music on the website before booking. Although hiring "students" may sound dodgy, they must be of a very high standard even to make it to university - almost all universities require grade 8 (the highest grade you can get) in at least one instrument. As a musician myself I appreciate how talented you must be!

We also have our rings sorted - we are getting them hand-made by the same jewellers that I used for my OH's engagement ring. They have been ordered, and they should be finished in 6 weeks :).

We are quite lucky in that we have a friend who is a professional photographer who usually charges £1000 for his wedding package. He has agreed to photograph our wedding if we pay for his fuel. :D.

We have enquired about wedding insurance and will get this as soon as the church is booked.

We have also decided on pretty much everything else (colour scheme, guest list etc), it just needs to be put into action.

Hope all your planning is going well!
  • Congratulations fif93 :)

We have put our planning on the back burner over Xmas coz I was having a bit of overkill but we are almost all done with the little bits we can do. Got dress shopping day planned with the bridesmaids at the end of the month and we are finally meeting with our photographer to discuss plans :)
We have managed to find a house after a long time of searching :) and we move on 1st feb so once we are settled I can get stuck into the making of wedding invites and table decorations so only living out of boxes for another 3 weeks :) can't wait was beginning to think we'd be starting married life living with mil aha hope everyone had a brill Xmas and new year xxx
    Debt free finally :j

OH & I have been engaged for over 7 years. Started as a young couple. Now we’re about ready to sign the dotted line.
We’re on a extremely tight budget, But, Partly because we don’t want to over spend on things that isn’t important IYKWIM.

So far, We’ve done nothing booking wise, But I have been searching the internet for prices, Styles, advice ect.

Any advice would be fab. Looking forward to more from you all & congratulations x
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy
  • Hi princess congratulations on your engagement and finally getting the planning started :) what's important to you for your wedding? That's the best place to start with what you want and what your prepared to spend. Like I wanted the big 'proper' wedding reception but am prepared to make my own invitations and table decorations to balance out the costs. Also research everything for the area your getting married in, don't just take the first price you see. We have negotiated quite a lot with our suppliers for good deals. Also have you considered getting married out of wedding season? We are getting married next January as I don't do well in heat and we could have the wedding we wanted at an affordable price for us. If you need anything pm me xxx

Hi keepergirl, I don't suppose you'd mind telling me where your reception was? I'm getting married in October 2015 and looking for somewhere in the Worcestershire area.

  • I am having a December 2014 wedding so don't really fit here or on the other posts but will also join in if that's ok. I have my venue booked which comes with a DJ & a photographer but wish I could get my cake & invitations sorted. I have my dress & my daughter's (my only bridesmaid) but am struggling to get anything that fits well on my son. I bought some fish bows a couple of days ago for table decorations which has already exceeded the budget I had in mind for this area & don't really know what to do with them now I have them!
I look forward to reading other people's plans.

Glad this thread has popped up again!

    We're getting married April 2015!! :j

So far I am feeling very organised :T

Today I have booked flights and villa for part of our Honeymoon April/May next year so just have a hotel to book - so feeling like I don't have much left to do!!!

Bank holiday weekend was spent printing, trimming and cutting for assembling invites later in the year with MIL 2 be. I also addressed all the save the date cards which I will send out in the next month or so and assembled my favours.

Going to order my wedding dress/Bridesmaid dresses in a couple of weeks but apart from that everything else is booked (apart from cake - going to get from M&S), bought or budgeted for!

How is everyone else getting on for 2015?
