Had this debate on another thread a while ago but no one has the right (unless he or she is permitted by law to do so) to challenge you on your disability they have no legal right to challenge you at all. Best bet tell them in the politest and diplomatic way possible to go away and mind their own business if they kick off, calmly report them for a breach of the peace. They have no right to challenge you end off.

No one has the right to challenge other people's behaviour?

So if I see someone parking in a disabled you suggest I have no right to question their entitlement to park there?

    What about civic responsibility?

Where would you draw the line?

Surely we all have a duty to society at large.

If we see someone parking in a disabled spot and not displaying a BB why shouldn't we point out to them (politlely) that they shouldn't be parking there.. is that really so wrong?

Perhaps if more people had this attitidue then the minority who feel they can park where they like would be less inclined to do do.

Are there any financial penalties for parking in a designated disabled bay without a BB?

What if the only available space is a disabled designated one? If the correct parking charge is paid can any action be taken?

In a private car park there are no penalties that would be legally enforceable.

If it is council owned then yes, you can get a legally enforceable ticket. I sort of agree with your logic about if it was the only remaining space (you could argue that that would put a disabled person at an advantage, rather than simply removing the disadvantage) but I guess there is always a space _somewhere_ - even if it means a longer walk. And if you consider it a long walk then it would seem even further for the disabled person...

I guess this would assume that only those holding a BB could possibly be disabled. That somehow the possession of a BB validates and proves a disability exists.

If its a private car park you may end up with the car being clamped - there is another thread on this elsewhere on the forum Where someone parked in a disabled parking area and had no BB- and even if there is no legal right to clamp the car, getting it unclamped may prove difficult as they want money right there and then. Parking company tickets you could ignore, but the clamp is rather more difficult!
