Abused while standing at my car in a disabled bay

It's usually just council car parks that are free. You still have to pay for privately run ones, like the multi-storeys in shopping centres.
Best comeback I've used when some idiot decides to have a go-
IDIOT - You don't look disabled
ME- You don't look stupid, but looks can be deceiving.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

It must depend on the local authority.0

Bollocks. If someone isn't Asian, they'll get it about their hair colour, their figure, their child's appearance, the clothes they wear, the other ethnic characteristics they display, their sexual proclivities or a million other things. It's not worse if someone's Asian. It's just a slightly different flavour of personal insult.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Unfortunately I find this an increasing problem amongst today's youth.
When I was at school (only 15/20 years ago) neither me nor any of my friends would dream of acting as they kids today do. There's no respect at all from the majority of them.
A few months ago I was returning to my car from a medical appointment in town. I had to walk through the bus station to get to the car and as I was doing so this kid (14/15) decided it would be a good idea to steal my walking stick and have a laugh and joke with his mates throwing it about.
Luckily someone was good enough to take the stick from them and give it back to me, but I then had to walk past therse kids with them shouting things such as 'freak' and 'gimp'.
Maybe I come from better stock than they do, but when I was a kid I and most of my mates, would go out of our way to help someone who needed it, not make fun of them[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

You most likely do come from better stock, as there's always been good and bad in all age groups. The man who aimed his remarks towards me must have been about 50 years old.0 -

Of course it doesn't. Did someone say it did? But DISABILITY and no other income than benefits certainly does in the form of Housing Benefit, Pension Credit etc.0 -

I am a lot younger than the OP and as some of you know, have a nice big Black Range Rover that is the latest model. I love using the BB spaces, it saves on getting the doors dinked.
I find I get dirty looks from a lot of OAP's who look at the car and go into auto tut, it's up to them. They still carry on tutting as the wheelchair comes out. Just because I managed to get a decent car and have it updated as often as I can afford, I am a big bloke and love the car.
But you cannot have a decent car and a BB.
As for parking my town council has just started charging as it contributes £50KPEr year. They changed the rules a year ago to help plug the budget gap.
I have found that there are a lot less spaced filled. But that might just be me.0 -
The City of Manchester has plenty of FREE disabled spaces, adds to many frustrations as they are mingled between the rows of parking meters for the non disabled drivers.
Most of Manchesters cars parks are run by Euro Car Parks with the rest being privately run so there's no free parking within most 'car parks'.
I certainly haven't come across any.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.
