Hi aj, if its 4% I think you will be pushed to beat that with a savings acct, but have a look at martins calculator, I think its in the mortgage section of the site. Good luck for the promotion too :D

Thanks, Newgirly. I have just looked...I would need to get at least 5% on my savings  I will continue to build up my ISA slowly and put the rest to the mortgage.

I am so excited, we have just booked our New Year holiday to Austria. We are returning to the same place we went to 3 years ago the first time we visited the lovely country...and the place we got engaged :D

Dinner this evening was roast rosemary chops and potatoes with green beans and leftover plum crumble and ice cream.

I only seem to come on here to talk about my ankle and food and never about money...Natty would be so proud (wherever she is).

Dinner tonight was paprika pork with rice followed by stewed plums, meringue and ice cream. Tomorrow will be a learning curve as I am doing roast beef and caramelised onion gravy with homemade roast potatoes, parsnips and Yorkshire puddings. The last time I did anything like this was quite a while ago and I have always been too lazy to make my own Yorkshire's. I need to practice them and check the recipes work so I can make my own to freeze and be even more prepared for Christmas.

I have today off work and Mr AJM is back at work so I am hoping to get a few things done while trying not to do too much to aggravate my foot. I have a physio appointment late morning so will not be able to do too much anyway and I am planning on going for a swim after that.

I have already checked my meal plan and made a shopping list from that, I just need to check a few things in the cupboard. Next things on my list is to make a plan for timings for tonight's dinner in the hope everything will go well.

I need to check my food inventories on Wednesday/Thursday so I can start making a meal plan for November and work things into that. I will get organised if it kills me!

I sent an email to the hotel on Saturday after we booked it saying how much we were looking forward to staying with them and had booked a suite on their recommendation. I have had a lovely email back from them this morning which has had me bouncing around the house, I don't want to wait 9 and a half weeks to go away now. I have forwarded it to Mr AJM at work to give him a pick me up when he reads it as I know how much of a drag the first day back at work is.

Physio appointments are going really well, I have at least 2 more weeks with them as he has told me his plan for then but I know he wants to overload my joints so it will be going past that timescale. I didn't manage to go for a swim as our pool at work is out of action until further notice :( I might buy a 6-session swim pass so I can get my heart rate going a bit.

Shopping is in and I am having a nice break with a cuppa before I start getting stressed with cooking.

Starting to panic about the dinner now. Beef smells amazing and should be coming out of the oven in about 15 mins. Potatoes and parsnips seem to be doing ok and will be turned up and carrots added when the beef is out. Yorkshire pudding batter is in the fridge and the tins will go in the oven to heat the fat soon. Once all this is in it should be easy  all I have to do then is the other veg on the hob and make the gravy but by then Mr AJM will be home. He is so much better at these things than me.

For anyone who is interested, this is where we are going for New Year. Sorry about the long links but I don't know how to do short ones :o

This is the village, I can't find a small website for it http://www.stwolfgang.at/index.php?lang=en

Beef took far longer than I expected and I had already overestimated. All the roast veg will be in far longer than I wanted but it should be nice and crispy. Yorkshires are in now and I am ready to get going with the gravy...

Gravy was nearly a disaster but Mr AJM was there to help me...next time I will read the recipe properly. My yorkshire puddings were huge and tasted like they should, next time I will try to make them more crispy. Everything else worked too and I still have time to perfect them for Christmas. I will try the potatoes, parsnips and yorkshires again on Sunday to go with the meat I am planning :D

Unfortunately the strength in my foot didn't reach to the end of the washing up but the good thing with that is it means Mr AJM is doing it instead :j
