Mrs E is half Austrian, so lots of tasty culinary traditions on that side of the family
We love Austrian food, please share any good recipes you can find :j:j I am now trying to think of recipes I might like. Our favourite part of the world especially at Christmas/New Year is Austria and German Bavaria.
I am very excited as I have a surprise and I am not telling DH, I have planned Monday night as a completely German meal. German goulash with potatoes and braised red cabbage followed by apple strudelit may test my culinary skills but I am up for the challenge.

Delurking! I enjoy your diary. I am intrigued by dessert - baked nectarines? Where can I find the recipe please?
Thank-you0 -
I kind of made it up. Removed stones from the fruit halved and cut them into wedges and put them in an oven dish. Sprinkled cinnamon and brown sugar over and put them in the oven for 30 mins at 180. The easiest dessert and I have used up some old fruitMFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Back from work after 3 this morning and didn't really manage to sleep in so cue one very tired ajmoney.
We have been out most of the day resulting in Mr AJM buying a new motorbike, the upside of this is we need to sort the garage (finally) tomorrow so we have space for it alongside the current one from next weekend. Instead of going to Crete at Easter we now going to do a road trip but undecided whether it will be in this country or Northern Europe. We have also talked about a Europe road trip next summer but Mr AJM is also talking about Thailand too, I have reminded him that we can't do both!
He has nipped out as he is picking up his son, his girlfriend and her youngest son who are coming for dinner and staying the night. I feel very ashamed to say I caved in and have bought frozen roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings for ease. This will be the last time, I promise!
I am looking forward to a chilled out day tomorrow after they have left, finishing with a pub visit in the evening to meet up with a friend from over the water.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

You can't make homemade experiments for guests - you need to get good at them before that :rotfl:
Don't worry, we all need a little convenience from time to time.0 -
This morning is THE test. Mr AJM has just taken Simpson's girlfriend and son home leaving me and stepson alone for the first time for at least half an hour  I have taken as long as I can in the shower but can't put it off any longer, so I'm off downstairs.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Meal plan until Sunday and shopping list done for later. I intend to double check the inventory at some point through the week to finish my meal plan for the rest of the month. I hope to have a few less jars in the fridge by the end of the month. Physio later so will go shopping after that then come home to do a lot of baking and cook Mr AJM his German dinner
I can't believe how cold it has got, it will be a test to keep the heating off even until October at this rate.
Waiting for some money to reach my bank from paypal and then it will be transferred as an OP. I am in danger or reaching my reduced MFW target this month if I can keep a rein on the money.
A couple of big meat orders will be going in soon which should keep us in supply for quite a while and I am starting to keep an eye out in Aldi for meat to put away for Christmas. I WILL be organised!MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

German goulash is now in the slow cooker, having a quick cuppa then will make a lemon drizzle cake (finally). I should then have enough time to prep my red cabbage ready for cooking and make a start on the apple strudel. I also have a lot of rolls to make up for lunches to put in the freezer, we almost have enough of everything lunch-wise to take us up to half term :j
I would like to make some scones as well but I'm not sure how time is going to work for me so I might do that tomorrow night while Mr AJM is teaching. They are only going in the freezer anyway so it doesn't matter too much if I leave it a while.
I think all we need to buy food wise until next Monday is milk, something for a light dinner and ingredients for a chilliMFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200
