MSE News: Orange ends free broadband

You certainly need to read the details but, even at double the price, the Plusnet offer is not a bad deal...0

Just got off to Orange after ordering a shiny new ip5. They informed me that my free BB is due to come to and end, but if I moved my line rental to them, I could again have it for free as I have a new mobile contract.
Now I currently pay about £7 line rental through Primus, and don't use the home phone for anything other than to allow Broadband.
Orange want £14 ish for their line rental.
Surely if they are willing to give me the Broadband free still, they are breaking some kind of anti-competition law by forcing me to move my line rental? After all, it works fine now with Primus......
Anyone else any thoughts on this?
I may not be bright, but its not dark in here...........0 -
just been on the orange broadband website, and if you click on the 'home broadband is changing' link, it says in quite bold, easy to read writing..........
it's all good news for you
Everything you love about your Orange broadband will stay the same. The price you pay for your broadband and your plan details won’t change, and you’ll still get two for one cinema tickets on a Wednesday.
There are some things that will change over time; your bills, Direct Debit and access to Your Account will all gradually change from Orange to EE and we’ll let you know when these changes happen.
Now forgive me if i'm getting this wrong, but I currently pay nothing for my broadband. This admission says the price I pay will stay the same, AND my plan details won't change.
Interesting stuff.................0 -
I^ noticed that about 10 minutes ago, I have posted somewhere before we were all going to transfer to EE and adsl/adsl max & liveboxes looked like it was being fazed out, BT Wholesale ADSL2+ & Fibre are defo looking like the only connections....how that helps adsl/adsl max only exchanges leaves alot of customers slammed & with mobile contracts Orange will not terminate.
"The price you pay for your broadband and your plan details won’t change"
but you have/are trying too
"But your broadband is still free, just give us the line rental" will be the answer lol
Answer: ok line rental at BT Wholesale price which is still more expensive than Primus £7.99
They really are making a a$$ of EE brand via broadband before its commercial launchLOL you can change the "name" of the tiger but never its spots. Orange/EE same same - repeating the same mistakes that damage the brand/s.
Well done to the ex vice president of France telecom, coming and not only adding more damage to Orange brand in the UK but now the new unlaunched brand !!! Really, where do companies employ such idiots ?
We see chief of EE, Olaf, at a bank WE own the majority share of very soon no doubt :rollseyes:SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
Incidentally if you have read this far you may wish to move on to the 20 page thread on the same topic. (Short version, many have complained, perhaps you should too, but no one has managed any result yet.)

Well Citizens Advice & then a small claims court would sort it out, but Orange bank on everyone being a sheep.... and by default Orange win.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... I too read the website re: BB. ‘Orange Just Got Better’
If you read the small print it becomes apparent why they want our landlines.
With the forthcoming roll out of 4G and fibre BB and you will need to upgrade and an EE Fibre BB plan.
And we’ll all become EE customers and live happily ever after!
NOT ME!0 -
If Orange sold broadband division all contracts would be ongoing in term, as its simply moving you to another brand well they think they can do what they want...
Ofcom/Orange cannot force customers to give up the choice of who provides line rental & who the broadband simply because Orange want to change your terms.
When EE/Orange confirm such ALL you better get emailing Ofcom about them letting such happen, you ARE being slammed from one broadband provider to another & forced to take line rental with the second brand/provider.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... I also am in the same position, free bb with my phone for 6years and then BANG!!! orange pull the plug.
I've had about 10 calls with Orange over the last fortnight and all they want to do is sell me a land line package.
I WILL NOT BE RENEWING WITH ORANGE AT THE END OF MY MOBILE CONTRACT , ORANGE WILL LOSE £400 A YEAR FROM ME
Can I suggest that we all consider another provider when our contract finish.
I've emailed Orange complaints but surprise surprise I received a bounce saying they had problems with that site and would get back to me. It's been down for over 2weeks .
I have now emailed the board of directers , can I also suggest that we
All do this .
A simple search for orange directers takes you to everything everywhere meet the board
I believe there email address is
Eg. Fred.smith at orange.co.uk
Obviously you use the. "at" character in the address, but I can't here
I have not received invalid address return emails.
I also suggest that we put this link on any social network sites that we use to rally other people in the situation.
I've been told by orange adivisers that a new department has been set up to deal with this. He also said. "the staff who sold me this contract may have lied but not deliberately ". I bet the recording of that conversation is deleted. He also called me a liar, that's now a separate complaint.
I'm also considering a freedom of information/data protection request for all written or digital records relating to my account. The adviser said that they had a folder on me and had made notes on it for future conversations . Very sinister.
I know this costs money but having done a request in a previous job I know it takes ahuge ammount of staff hours to collate the info. My previous post charged £24 pounds as the guidelines say the cost must be reasonable .
I think if we stick together and ask BBC WATCHDOG or RIP OFF BRITAIN to look into it , we might see Orange do thr right and honourable thing.
Also when the adviser told me that landline would include free broadband he refused to send me a specific letter stating this, I'm worried that they will do the same thing in 6 months time so have not taken up the offer.
STICK TOGETHER , EMAIL THE BOARD, DON'T LET THEM SWEEP US UNDER THE CARPET.0 -
