How far do you commute to work?

12.2 miles and takes about 25-30 min.
Luckily the only traffic I hit, is trying to get out of the business park.0 -
I'm in the same boat - took a contract that was a lovely 45 minute commute into London. I knew that they were moving but they said it was close by into nicer offices. Turns out that they moved slap bang in the middle of SoHo in London which is a nightmare commute for me:
15 mins walk to station
45 mins train to Liverpool Street
Wrestle with overcrowded Central Line at Liverpool Street - Tottenham Court Road
10 mins walk into Soho fighting through crowds down Oxford Street
I feel quite cheesed off as I now get home around 7pm and its very late to be cooking family dinners etc. I am going to request early start/early finish from next week (I think they will be open to that) and if they say no then I won't renew the contract when it comes up.
As a veteren of 4 hour a day commutes I have decided that I won't take work in certain locations in London anymore because I don't want to do that type of travelling...so understand your annoyance totally0 -
About 6.3mi and between 1 - 2 hours.
Wolverhampton to Walsall.
Bus.
We have to cross a junction of the M6, so the state of the motorway affects the commute. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
I am in a similar situation and really don't know what to do.
My current commute, about 8 miles, is about a 45 minute bike ride. This is really important to me because I do a desk based job and need the exercise or else I simply wouldn't be able to function.
It is now inevitable that the company are closing our office and relocating to a place that is an hour by train.
I therefore am in a very difficult situation - while the commute wouldn't be much longer I would face a vastly reduced quality of life and massive travel costs. On the other hand it is work0
