How far do you commute to work?

about 30 seconds (going from breakfast table to desk upstairs).. but when I need to visit our office in London it takes me 50mins to an hour.0

I travel from Hale Barns to Daresbury ( Cheshire) takes about 20 minutes, nice easy journey. I used to do 70 odd mile round trip every day so it's nice to have an easier journey these days.'' Ok Marge, if anyone asks, you require 24-hour nursing care; Lisa's a clergyman; Maggie is seven people and Bart was wounded in Vietnam ''0

Depends on the day as i do support work,it can be up to 50 + miles a day,as that includes supporting people to access the community. With being in a rural area i am lucky you do get rush hour in our nearest big town but my work tends to be country roads.I really enjoy my job though so the travelling does"nt bother me.
Will speak my mind because that"s how i am

Wow I feel very lucky. My office was about 10 minutes drive away but then the office relocated close to my home by chance and is about 5 minutes drive away now. Prior to this job, I travelled an hour a day. It's a lot nicer to be home by 5.05pm.0

My work is about a 20 min drive away however customers always comment on how far I have to come!
Looks like I am lucky lol0 -
2 hours to go 45 miles?! :eek:InsideInsurance wrote: »Yup:
15-20 minute walk to the train station
5-10 minute wait for the train
50-60 minutes on train
5-15 minute walk/ queue for underground
5 minutes on underground
10 minute walk from tube to office
I guess the time soon adds up. It took me less time when I commuted from Stamford, Lincs to the City and that was twice as far.0 -
Have travelled on the tube for 30 miles there and 30 back once. Leaving home at 7.15 to get there for 9am0

I doubt that very much. Businesses move for a good business reason such as lease expiring and no choice to renew, need to expand but can't in the current location etc. The fact that it will take Fred 50 mins instead of 20 mins doesn't even come in to it.. If they lost staff because of the move then I doubt very much whether it would take them long to replace them.If more people did the same, companies might think twice before simply flicking locations and expecting employees to pick up the pieces ( and commute to the new location at their own expense!)
You don't even know how many people are affected. A local firm moved to the outskirts of our town from the centre just recently. Big hoo-ha about the move and extra travel. When it was looked into deeper 70% of the workforce were closer and wouldn't have to fight the town centre traffic so cutting travel time and costs dramatically. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
