Im interested in what the other price adjustments are going to be for the various programming packages. Will they increase the price for the multi-radio, for mostly music, and for the premier packages?0

I doubt it, if you're out of minimum term you can call and cancel.
I've just cancelled my phone and broadband. We've "allegedly" used 60GB last month when our average for the last 910 months is around 30GB. This will cost us £20 extra as we had Infinity with the 40GB cap. Despite no change to our usage habits, the router statistics much much lower and lots of posts on their forums complaining about the same issue BT's only answer was to upgrade to the unlimited package, which they even tried to missell by claiming I can upgrade for a month and downgrade next month to avoid the charge, no thanks. I even pointed out that when we were on holiday for the entire month of August with everything turned off at home BT claim we used 8GB of data. After a painful week talking to India and getting nowhere I cancelled last night. I'm writing a formal complaint about this to head office and will pursue it with the Ombudsman if I don't get a satisfactory answer. My advice to everyone is to avoid BT completely, which I will be echoing to friends and family.
Glad to be rid of a such and awful shoddy company.0 -
I think I am heading for the Formal Complaint to BT /Ombudsman route after 4+ hours of wrong and misleading advice from 6 different BT employees yesterday! My "Price Rises" email from BT arrived 28 Sep so I am well inside the 10 day window (Why only 10 days and why is the "you can leave without penalty" info hidden 4 layers/clicks on from "notification" email?)
Once, I had got to the truth that my Broadband & Calls package price is increasing I registered that I wished to leave with the "Customer Options Section on 0800-800-030 (they are BT's Retention Section who normally act to try and make you stay - no flexibility yesterday?) but this seems barely organised - BT type a note onto your account records!
THE BAD NEWS is that BT WILL NOT REFUND my Line Rental Saver package which ends on same day in Sep 2013 so effectively my line rental is locked to BT for another year. Thus I will be unable to get the best new Broadband & Calls package as these require moving the line rental payment to new provider!
I believe this is a classic UNFAIR TERMS & CONDITIONS by BT who claim that since the Line Rental Saver price is not being increased I cannot get any refund - hence formal complaint.
Anyone understand what the point of having a CONTRACT with BT is if they can just change it when it suits them? If I decided to change the contract at my end I would be hit by penalty charges for starters! :mad:0 -
But it is made quite clear when signing up to LRS that it is not refundable under any circumstances-moving house or leaving BT included. No free lunch, and no free laptop

....indeed, but then I thought I had a contract with BT that lasted until Sep 2013 and had arranged the Line Rental Saver to expire on same day as Broadband & Calls package.
I was entirely happy with this arrangement - BT have shifted the goalposts - not me - yet I am now being penalised for BT's decision to renege on their side of the contract.
PS. With all other telecoms companies the line rental is part of your package - the separation with BT is surely just a hangover from the days when they had a monopoly0 -
Contracts are usually separated, one for line rental and calls, one for broadband. You cannot have BT line rental without an inclusive calls package. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hi, can anyone give me advice on what to do next re BT price increase & switching providers? I had a bt email telling me of price increase on Oct. 1st. On the stength of the article saying BT were in breach of contract I have switched to Sky & notified BT I was leaving & was not liable for termination fees. They have not responded to 3 emails . Have spoken to 3 different BT employees on the telephone none of whom would give me a direct answer. Today I have received a bill for £69.99 for termination charges, telephoned them again , kept on hold for 10 minutes to eventually be told because I was switching & not terminating, the cancellation fee will have to be paid. Told them I will not pay. I need an end to this nightmare any advice gratefully received !0

How did you inform BT-in writing by recorded delivery I hope? Have they confirmed receipt? Did you advise them within the deadline after receiving the notification of increase?
You still have to give 30 days notice-did you do so?No free lunch, and no free laptop

Many thanks for response.I have sent them 3 emails which they have acknowledged receipt of but no proper reply.
Did not give 30 days notice the original article did not mention that..quote ..
How to escape your contract
Under BT terms and conditions, as a price rise is considered to be to your "detriment", you have 10 days from receiving notice of a price rise to terminate your contract without incurring an early termination fee.
BT's terms state: "If British Telecom Payment Services makes a change to your material disadvantage, you may terminate your BT Telephony Services, BT Total Broadband or BT Vision agreement.
"Contact us directly within 10 calendar days of receiving our price change notification you may cease your services without penalty."0
