finally i can sell on play.com
my account status was active, my items were listed but nobody could see them
i deleted them all and relisted and still nothing
today i phoned play and got put on hold for 3 minutes then hung up on, then phoned back and got told to call back in 30 minutes, called back in an hour and got a very helpful person, they got on to the IT department who approved and activated my account at their end and now it works0 -
Congratulations Pinkgem
They do seem to be having a few teething problems. Good luck with the sales.

Oh well - failed to sell on PLAY as the item was also listed on Amazon and sold this morning :j ( yes I have remembered to remove from PLAY!!) better a sale than no sale I suppose but I have no time till end of April to list anymore books on PLAY so my first sale will have to wait.0

Yey I've sold my first item on PlayTrade! To Finland!
It all seemed to go fairly painlessly - I will just wait to see if any feedback materialises and see if PlayTrade customers expect books in similar condition to Amazon ones.
I have noticed that the ones to be listed as 'Very Good' really need to be almost as new (according to their listing conditions) and I have decided to list alot of my Amazon Very Good ones as only Good on playTrade. I always include a description so that should clarify things hopefully.
Still it was a 'Good' one which sold, so hopefully no complaintsAMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0033 come and join us :j make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board0 -
Well, I've finally got around to doing a bulk upload on Play with some success. I've managed to upload 1500 of my 3900 items (based around a download of my open Amazon listings). I still need to look at the error log to see why the others have failed. My first guess would be that the items aren't in Plays catalogue.

Can you give me a few pointers as to how you do this??? I have nearly 2000 listed with amazon and would love to put them all on PLAY but how can I do it without listing them individually? When you say upload how do you do this?? Can you advise me please
Thanks

Hi Annie
Before you can do this you need to be registered as a pro-seller on Play, this costs £19.99.
Once you've got through that bit (took me a while!) then you get some additional options. Looks like this:
Listings
Sales
Uploads
Reports
Account Preferences
Account Summary
You will need to download an 'open listings' report from Amazon and convert it into the Play format (very similar but less columns), you will also need to adjust your prices to allow for postage.
Not sure where you can download the Play format from the Play site, but Rupert sent me a copy - not sure where he got his from.
Anyway, let me know if you want me to go into more detail and I'll email you the format - bulk uploading is not without its problems though because once uploaded it's a real pain to check on prices etc. I've also noticed that some of the isbn's don't give the same titles!!! I could be in for a few 'refunds' and unhappy buyers.

Wahoo, first sale on play.com. £3.50 for a book bought for 33p!"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0

Congratulations tsharp :T
I've still only had 2 sales - really slow - not sure what genre sell well on play, probably a different type of buyer to Amazon.
Both my books would be classed as older children's books, one by Jacqueline Wilson, the other 'Midget' by Tim Bowler.
And, guess what??? I've just checked my Play account and I've got a 'sale pending' - and I thought it was just Amazon did that.
Oh, and that is a child's book too.

I just worked out:
Sold for £3.50
book bought for 33p (3 for £1)
play.com fees 85p
jiffy envelope 33p
postage approx 70p
£1.29 profit - not bad but i would need a whole bunch more to make a difference to the bank balance at this rate. Maybe I should put all the proceeds in one account and see what it adds up to at the end of the year."I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0
