American Express Nectar update

  • E-mailed Nectar as suggested by Cobra (big thanks for your help). After some to-ing and fro-ing, got similar reply - "I am pleased to advise you that you will receive your Nectar bonus points after you have received your second Statement from American Express." However, it's not clear that you have to have spent something to generate the second statement (I've just spent once to get the first lot of bonus points) -as opposed to just getting it showing first balance repaid and a nil outstanding balance - on standard billing cycle, so looks like I'll have to play safe and use the card again..This promotion has been a pain from the start!

I've already received my second statement from American Express, and have only spent once, when I got the card. I got the following reply to my email to Nectar:
I have checked your account and I can advise that you are outstanding
1,000 bonus points to be applied to your account from American Express.
All the relevant points have bee awarded by Nectar eStores and you are
due the extra 1,000 points. We have been advised that American Express
have made an error and have been only crediting the 1,000 points
instead of the 2,000 bonus points. We have spoken to American Express to
correct this issue. As the outstanding points are to be credited by
American Express please contact their Helpline directly on 0800 700 727 and
their dedicated team will arrange for the outstanding points to be
    awarded to your account.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

If you're so into Nectar points, why would you only spend once and not continue using the card to build up your points I understand getting a card for the bonus, I don't understand not spending further on it if you really like Nectar points. Is there a better way to get points?

Before I took the card I wasn't aware it was accepted in so few shops. I thought it would be taken anywhere like Visa or Mastercard. I've struggled to spend any more simply because nowhere I shop seems to accept Amex.

Plus I have another credit card which offers cashback, which obviously I can spend on anything I want, not just nectar rewards.

That's strange...you must not shop in many high street shops or many Nectar sponsors because they all accept AMEX. If you shop at sainsbury's it's like getting 2% cashback on your spending -- 4 nectar points per £1 spent.
  • I too followed the correct procedure but ( after 2 monthly accounts ) have only been creditted with 1000 Nectar points .
I'm now in the middle of Amex and Nectar blaming the other .
Anyone found a satisfactory conclusion to this one ?

I phoned the American Express Nectar Card number this morning, and have been told the 2nd 1,000 points were being added and should appear on my next statement due around 15th June. So, it's back to wait and see once again.

Is Vance Miller running this points 'promotion'????
Maybe it'd be run better if he was.

What a joke American Express are. And Nectar are only slightly better.
We played yer silly game, stop messing us around and givvus what were entitled to. We kept to our end of the bargain, did we not???
The 6000 points should've been given in one go after my first spend, not in dribs and drabs, like some half baked amateur outfit.
    Not impressed. Not one bit.

1000 points still outstanding, and I'm not giving up (as you're hoping some of us will, Mr Amex).

Paul, you're a star! I've just had a good chuckle at your post. Spot on!!

I'm one of the many people on here who are still awaiting the illusive last 1000 Nectar points.

Would it not just have been easier to give them us all in one go?!
