Quote: Orange customers who have a mobile plan of more than £30 a month can get broadband free on a permanent basis, says Abensur. Well, an 18 month contract with no connection fee, so the company is reserving its position. But the deal appears attractive: a connection up to 8 megabits, a LiveBox, no connection fee, and free, unlimited calls via VoIP using a digital cordless phone evenings and weekends to landline numbers.
More Evidence ORANGE/EE is lying about free for life home broadband!!!!!:rotfl:
Could be wrong, but I thought the word permanent meant as long as the life of the mobile contract. Perhaps Orange management require an Oxford dictionery!!!!

If this investigation shows that illegal methods were used, then prosecutions should follow. To blame over zealous sales people just does not wash with me.0 -
My personal feeling on this - ONLY when OFT or TRADING STANDARDS launch a criminal investigation will these practices be fully addressed0

Finally had my call back after going down the ofcom and exec office route.agreed to carry on free bb until contract renewal. I have negotiated with them though that I will take their offer of landline and bb inc evening and weekend calls for 18months at 18.50.but they are going to credit my bb account with the difference to make it 14 a month over 18months. I am happy with this outcome as I was paying 14.60 a mth to bt.also my email address is important to me at the moment and couldnt afford for this to stop working. Also being in the sticks couldnt find a deals as comptitive anyway.0

Telcoms regulator Ofcom has stepped in to ensure customers are treated fairly.
Eh? OFCOM have been doing the exact opposite from what I read in this thread.0 -

So fingers crossed. I don't like phoning call centres as I struggle to stay polite when they refuse to listen to reasoning and just read off scripts!
Got a call from the special team today, and after asking if i was sure i wasn't interested in moving my line rental (no, my employer pays it), the adviser said she would reinstate my free broadband until the end of my contract. Didn't ask for compensation as apart from my initial phone call and spending hours reading this thread, it only took 2 e-mails (Ofcom and Executive Office).
Many thanks to all the contributors who did the legwork in coming up with the procedures and getting the precedents set! :beer:0 -
It is a matter for the police to launch a criminal investigation but this isn't a criminal matter!
I beg to differ - the law according to CAB & Trading Standards

I believe you are incorrect. Mis-selling is a criminal matter.
I am not legally qualified and would be interested to hear from those who are on this. However, I would have thought that the mis-sold "test" would be: at the time the product was sold, could it have been known/demonstrated that it wasn't fit for purpose?
The decision to withdraw the offer has been taken subsequently and could therefore not have been known or fact at the time the product was sold.
However, I wonder whether those who signed mobile contracts after Orange decided to pull the offer could be deemed to have been mis-sold, if indeed those people have the offer pulled.
Legally, does mis-selling cover subsequent events that weren't known about or fact at the time of selling?0
