Thought maybe at last someone in the press was taking our plight seriously, even if it was only in a Scottish Newspaper. Sadly it wasn't to be! Orange trot out their "If a customer wants to cancel their broadband contract as a result of the changes, they can do that without any charges" line and the journalist leaves it at that.
But now wonder if it could be that the latest Ofcom ruling that MrRightSA is hinting at could be coming about because of pressure on Ofcom from BT.
BT blast Orange
Exclusive
BT have complained to the telecoms watchdog after rivals Orange hit customers with a near £170-a-year charge.
Orange, now part of EE, sucked in mobile customers by offering them free broadband access.
But they have now told those still getting the perk they'll have to pay them £14-a-month line rental from November 8.
Customers have complained to the regulators Ofcom, saying they only renewed their Orange mobile contract because of the free broadband offer. One writing on the forum Moneysavingexpert said: "It makes my blood boil".
Bt - who stand to lose out on line rental - say Orange aren't telling customers they can cancel their contract if they're no longer happy with it.
Ofcom said: We have been actively engaging with Orange on this issue to fully understand their policy."
Orange told us: "If a customer wants to cancel their broadband contract as a result of the changes, they can do that without any charges."
Orange/EE Broadband provided by BT Wholesale, BT Retail report Orange/EE to Ofcom :T:rotfl:
It is enforced SLAMMING at the end of the day.
For ONCE the fact Ofcom did not split BT into seperate companies ACTUALLY is working for the consumer ! Thats been what 30 years coming ?
handygranny is that from the early edition of todays Record or somewhere else ?SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
Hi MR RIGHTSA
Can you give us an idea of the number of customers involved?
I spoke to a nice guy called Luke - may have been you, but thanks for the info, very much appreciated.
Hopefully you too will be compensated along the line for your integrity.:j0 -
(as we aren't allowed to take ANY paper home with us incase we are taking bank details obviously.
Ironic your team are not trusted by Orange, thats them that are forcing people to higher line rental on thier Direct Debits are trusted !
Oh the ironicness of it all.
MrRightsA thanks so much for your input here, hope the rest of the site saves you a bob or two (million) for your honesty and conviction coming here to tell us something we did not know, top man big manSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... It basically affects everyone. I'm not sure how public Ofcom's rulings are on matters as the ruling basically puts Orange up a creek without a paddle so I think they'd love to keep it quiet.MrRightSA - many thanks for your input. I have received an email of the agreement made re various credits and another email of the buy out amount agreed re BT.
Has Orange given your office solutionss for customers who made deals and now want to reverse their position ie. go back to free broadband (following this new ruling from Ofcom!)
I imagine it creates a nightmare and another mess, that Orange unfortunately has an inability to solve, thus forcing customers to take legal action.
I understand your role and office would have a limited remit of what you can and cannot do and the sales incentive would be to achieve land lines.
I am sure Orange pay for results!
Because the decision was only made 12 or so hours ago, we only know how to deal with customers who haven't regraded to a new package. Given what Ofcom will announce I'm sure they have to accommodate for already regraded customers somehow.
This ruling basically means I will be getting £0 bonus after tomorrow :rotfl:but it's the law and I done okay before now telling customers the truth (at the time, at least!).0 -
I may well email my exec office contact tomorrow and ask him if oranges position has changed and they have any news for me/us0

Yeah the Glasgow team exclusively set up to handle the "free and £5" customers.
Thank you for your honesty and integrity - the guy I spoke with was John F - if that is you - consider yourself mentioned!
He was very polite concise and fully understood when I said I would consider and not give any decision.0 -

No doubt like the banks the CEO of EE Olaf Swantee will get paid from France Telecom for this utter mess of a matter "as its written in his contract" given the fiasco he really should not be returning on the Paris Eurostar Monday morning.

CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES, COMEON ! ITS A CELEBRATION !!!
Wonder how much Ofcom will fine the new EE brand, given Ofcom main funding source is fines, all publicity is good publicity eh EE ? LOL
I told you all, hold your not-impartcial regultors to account & your government has no option but to listen.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... DAMAGE beyond belief, them new 4GEE data inclusions are going to have to go up dramatically to tempt people to EE or Orange, T-Mobile might now bail out of EE, you know what Germans/governments are like ROTFLSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies...
