Orange 'Free' Broadband

I am trying to think of what resolution I am happy with...my folks reminded me of something else this week, when I joined orange ...so did my folks on the same offer, (except they took the landline too), the reason they joined orange was simply because I did, and to help me stay in touch with them, due to the magic number etc, so if I change my provider, then my folks will either have to....and incur the additional set up fees etc, and hassle for this, or my call charges will increase drastically and theirs too, meaning the financial hardship caused by their decision is wider spread, anyone any thoughts on this??
they haven't been contacted about their free broadband being taken away, (I assume as they already have her landline they don't need to threaten them to obtain it, however they are on the £13.50 landline with calls in the package, which none of us are being offered with our "free" broadband....will they be targeting them as their broadband is with their mobile and the cost of it £0.00 shows on her mobile bill???0 -
How can 1 company upset so many of its customers without some organisation to support them in the 21 century.0

I work in the call centre that you have all been calling. I was trying to register a new account unconnected with me at all but it just kept saying "Registration failed, please contact the administrator".
Obviously I'm not going to risk losing my job so all I'll say is that when you hear the latest Ofcom ruling, I believe many will be pleased.
I'm also disappointed I'm not mentioned at all as I've had a few MSE callers who asked for my name at the start and end of the call so thought I'd be mentioned somewhere but the search says no! :P0 -
Ido not understand your post. Plain English please0

That's an interesting revelation, and sounds promising. So I now await my call/update telling me what I think i am not alone in wanting.0

I cleaned up my post a bit.
Sorry I can't go into specifics but I'm sure you'll all know soon enough. I feel bad for what I've told some people, but I was only telling them what I had also been told.0 -
Thanks MrRightSA,
I understand it now. No offence ment.
Kind Regards0 -

Interesting post!
Let's hope the new Ofcom ruling is across the board and for all! Instead of a case by case basis.
Are you able to give a time frame?
I'll happily give the name of the person I spoke with a few weeks ago, but you won't be able to acknowledge it will you? Lol0 -
Got all excited to see this article in the finance page of the Daily Record newspaper this morning. Thought maybe at last someone in the press was taking our plight seriously, even if it was only in a Scottish Newspaper. Sadly it wasn't to be! Orange trot out their "If a customer wants to cancel their broadband contract as a result of the changes, they can do that without any charges" line and the journalist leaves it at that.
But now wonder if it could be that the latest Ofcom ruling that MrRightSA is hinting at could be coming about because of pressure on Ofcom from BT.
BT blast Orange
Exclusive
BT have complained to the telecoms watchdog after rivals Orange hit customers with a near £170-a-year charge.
Orange, now part of EE, sucked in mobile customers by offering them free broadband access.
But they have now told those still getting the perk they'll have to pay them £14-a-month line rental from November 8.
Customers have complained to the regulators Ofcom, saying they only renewed their Orange mobile contract because of the free broadband offer. One writing on the forum Moneysavingexpert said: "It makes my blood boil".
Bt - who stand to lose out on line rental - say Orange aren't telling customers they can cancel their contract if they're no longer happy with it.
Ofcom said: We have been actively engaging with Orange on this issue to fully understand their policy."
Orange told us: "If a customer wants to cancel their broadband contract as a result of the changes, they can do that without any charges."0 -
How very generous of Orange!
I am sure that would suit them very well!0
