In defence of beelzecubz, I too joined the forum specifically for this topic and primarily to show a slightly more positive side to Orange's position. As I previously stated I am a long term Orange customer who is/was on this free broadband deal. But I personally felt I was "getting away with it" for quite a while and am not surprised that they have moved to amend the deal.
I have decided to change my line rental to Orange at £14 a month and as such am no worse off financially (as I was paying a similar amount to BT and have no particular longing to stay with them) and still get to keep my 'free' broadband. That is why I am defending Orange, not out of any sinister hidden agenda and I suspect beelzecubz is similar.
Not much of a forum is it if the discussion has to be all one way?0 -

Spot on post, you also don't see many people who are only PAYG Orange getting free BB complaining yet.
I don't need to defend Orange, I just like the correct facts.0 -
In defence of beelzecubz,
Not much of a forum is it if the discussion has to be all one way?
That having been said, I have no issue with anyone challenging and quoting my posts.
However, I strongly object to having my post 'snipped' and quoted in such a way that it blatantly misleads other members and attempts to ridicule and undermine the point being made.0 -
Customers on PAYG were not eligible for free BB and was and is to my knowledge only available to contract customers.
Nope, when people wanted to cancel their Orange monthly mobile contract, Orange CS advised them to port their number over to Orange PAYG to keep their free BB, an official loophole.
The problem with a long thread now here is that people don't read from the start of the original post.
Eva what are your potential total costs for BB if and when Orange take away your free BB?
By the way I pay for my BB with Orange but have the 2nd VOIP line which is also going at some point.0 -
We acknowledge that if we do increase the Charges, withdraw Orange Additional Services or introduce new mandatory Charges - or if your contractual rights are affected to your detriment - you may terminate your Contract in accordance with Condition 4.3
This was the part that I snipped, because if you actually read it, instead of cutting and pasting it, you'll see that it says if any of the above comes to pass...
You may terminate your contract in accordance with condition 4.3
...which was the pertinent part of your post.
As the withdrawal of the free broadband does not affect your contractual rights to your detriment within the scope of said contract (i.e your Orange mobile bill will not increase as a result of the withdrawal), then condition 4.3 does not apply.
This is all checkable information and it's extremely disingenuous to suggest that I snipped part of the post to suit my own argument.
As I have said, if you really believe your contract has been breached, why on earth are you in here moaning about it? If it was me, I'd be on the phone to my solicitor quicker than greased weasel poo.beelzecubz it appears you are Pro Orange.
In your last post it would seem you have been very selective in 'snipping' my posted Orange T&C's
I am pro-Orange. I would have thought that my previous posts cemented that fact rather than just made it appear so.T&C - 4.3 is to be read in conjunction with 15.1
The reason for my post was in order to help people and not to blatantly mislead!
And when you read them together, you STILL have no contractual breach unless you have it down on paper that free broadband is irrefutably part of your mobile contract and not just an ADDITIONAL SERVICE that's not covered by the mobile phone contract.Gadgetmaster wrote: »Nail...squarely...headMy wife and I renewed both our (identical) contracts on the same call. I got a much better package than she did, and on querying why, was clearly advised that it was because she gets free broadband as part of her contract. Proving that 18 months down the line is another matter
Exactly. I'm not here to say that we're all up a distinctly brown watercourse without a steering implement, what I AM saying is that if you can prove beyond shadow of reasonable doubt that the free home broadband was an integral part of your mobile contract and not just an add on with its own T+C's, then by all means, have at it and best of luck to you.Copy of my Mobile Account minus costs and personal details; copied directly from my online Orange account.

There are none so blind as those who will not see. You've just clarified it for everyone. You lifted that from your MOBILE ACCOUNT and not your MOBILE CONTRACT. Taking a mobile contract made you eligible for the free bb offer. It's not your interpretation of the contract that would stand up in court, but actual law.Exactly. Choses to ignore some points, and nitpicks at others.
What on earth would possess anyone to suddenly join a forum solely to defend Oranges business practices? Most on here justifiably have an axe to grind.
What on earth would possess anyone to suddenly become extremely rude to someone who had not previously been rude to them? A beginning must happen somewhere, so why not this thread? Why would you just assume that I joined the forum solely to defend Orange? I think the next quote and my response covers that. What would lead you to this forum, and in particlar this thread, in defence of Orange, if you dont have an account with Orange?
In my first post (#77) The first sentence I wrote was...beelzecubz wrote: »...Having spoken at length over the last few days with advisors, supervisors and managers at Orange...
Now, why would I do that if I didn't have an account with them? Do you think I have nothing better to do than speak with businesses I have no connection with? You may have all the time in the world to do so, but I certainly don't. I cannot reiterate enough that I neither work for Orange nor Everythingeverywhere. He has an undisclosed Vested Interest. Ignore him. He's just attempting to muddy the water. Or is a pathetic troll.:)
I notice that you too are a newbie. Quite an ignorant, aggressive, defensive one at that. Perhaps you should address that before you come into a thread and start projecting your shortcomings and deficiencies onto other people.
As for tracing me by my IP address...If it's something that will console you during those long, lonely cold night spent thinking up peurile insults to throw at people on the internet, then by all means, go for it. I have nothing to hide.I strongly object to having my post 'snipped' and quoted in such a way that it blatantly misleads other members and attempts to ridicule and undermine the point being made.
I've covered this already, see above. Eva, I apologise unreservedly if my snipping came across as an attempt to mislead, it was certainly not my intention, I was just trying to illustrate the pertinent point of your post. With the benefit of hindsight, I see how this came across. Not a threat at all, I've just read back through the posts he made and they are trite.
Im not the first person to question his motives.
Keep Stirring Neil........
If it's not a threat, what is it? You want to harp on about the law and contracts then accept that your comment concerning the disclosure of my identity using my IP address is an implied threat and I suggest you either retract it or have the courage of your convictions and accept the consequences of what you have said.
I was under the impression that this site was all about saving money. I may have been naive, in fact, I definitely *was* naive.
In most cases, as stated, customers of Orange will SAVE MONEY by switching their line rental to them.
I'm not saying it was handled correctly, I'm not saying there are NO quibbles over contracts (and this is something to take up with your solictor if you feel you have a definite case for a missold contract) and I'm certainly not saying that it's a situation to take lying down.
Do your homework, research the costs, pick up a calculator, call Orange, speak to the people who know about the deal and make your own minds up, at the end of the day though when all is said and done, it's all about the bottom line.
If you choose to pay more based on upholding a principle, then you have every right to do so and I applaud your sense of moral rectitude.0 -
Eva what are your potential total costs for BB if and when Orange take away your free BB?
By the way I pay for my BB with Orange but have the 2nd VOIP line which is also going at some point.
I have the 2nd VOIP line too, never used it.
Cheapest £96.88 pa BB only 10G limit
Preferred £153.00 pa BB only Unlimited (Good reviews)
Orange £162 pa BB only Unlimited
To accept their offer = + £54.00 pa; in addition to swapping line rental to them £168 pa
IE a further £222 pa to Orange
However, if they chose to end my Mobile Contract, I will be free to negotiate with another Mobile Service provider and will endeavor to include reduced BB which I will ensure is within my current budget
Would NOT choose Orange again because they lack integrity IMHO0 -

Taking the minimum line rental deal with Orange will end up costing you £160.50 for 12 months or £244.50 for the length of the contract.
This is for line rental and broadband.
I don't know who your provider is but let's say BT. If your line rental is with them and you took your preferred package of BB at £153, you'd end up paying £328.20 (over 12 months) which is a distinct SAVING of £83.70pa and that's BEFORE BT raise their line rental to £15.45 in the new year, I'm not sure if they can raise it during the term of a contract, but you're saying Orange can, so what's to stop BT, or any other provider from doing the same..?0 -

Cheers,
shame you did not use the 2nd line because there is a very good offer for that IMHO but im staying PUT until they push me off it.
I'm assuming that the extra £222 payable to Orange is not minus your current Land Line rental?0
