Not messing with your cycle is a great idea. Mine have changed a lot in the last 13 months and they're getting increasingly shorter with ovulation being moved forward. We're only talking by a few days here and there, but a noticable change. Same sh1tty LP though! heh.

Good luck for this cycle :)

abis that is shocking. Definitely make an appointment to see your normal GP. Think some doctors need to undergo some sensitivity training without barking out the usual "lose weight, stop trying and it will magically happen along with the perfect 28 day cycle" nonsense that people trot out - usually those who have never had fertility problems.

Not sure if this will help, but I'm a comfort eater too. I'm going to try to lose weight from 7 January onwards, not because I think it will make a difference, but from the perspective that when DH finally agrees to getting some help, I don't want them to be able to palm me off with "come back when you're not overweight". Do you want to be my buddy?

    Thanks Ladies.

It was a GP lily. Not my usual one tho.

My BMI is currently 37.2 and I am a size 18 :o Not ideal by any stretch I know :( When I got pregnant with DD is was 23.7, when I got married it was 27.4, when I had my last pill check (therefore what the docs had down) it was 30.6, and when I got pregnant last time it was 33.5.

I know it is an issue my weight, but I didn't think weight was linked with irregular cycles. :o

I guess I will ride this cycle out and do the 7DPO blood test again and go see my regular GP after that if no BFP this month. And try to lose some weight in the meantime too.

Thanks Code - think that sounds like a good plan. I started slimming world with my best friend about 6 weeks ago, but only lost 1.5lbs in the first week despite sticking to it rigidly, and 1lb in the second week as well. So I did kind of give up at that stage as xmas was coming and I wanted to eat nice food :o:o:o

So - soy then ladies... Where do I get tablets from? What doses do people take? etc....
 Married my lobster in July 2011

TTC # 2 since Oct 2011 - good things come to those who wait :o

Huge hugs Abi, that sounds so awful! Cannot believe how blunt and heartless medical 'experts' can be! :(

I need to lose some weight too, been ignoring my steady weight gain this year but it's fairly obvious that I need to shift at least a stone, ideally 2! Going to start in earnest in the new year. :o Shall we all support each other with weekly weigh-ins and confessions?! :)

I think I'm going to buy a CBFM, anyone seen any super deals?! Currently looking at Amazon - £63.68 for the monitor and £21.89 for the sticks. _pale_

abis I don't lose weight quickly either and it is really discouraging isn't it? When I was getting married I needed to lose 1/2 an inch from my waist for my dress, so for 9 months I went to the gym for an hour every day doing cardio and strength, I ate porridge for breakfast and lunch. I low carbed, I no s'd. I did zumba and interval training. When it came to the fitting, I expected to have to have the dress taken in, but the fit was exactly the same. That was so upsetting especially when the endocrinologist said it was just because I have an efficient metabolism that only burns off what I need and stores the rest. Sigh. Since then I've gone up 2 dress sizes and I hate it. I feel like I need to work hard to stay in the same place iyswim.

I think the general idea is that losing 10% of your body weight if you're overweight can result in a boost to your fertility and resolve pcos symptoms so I reckon its worth doing in only so I can score something else off.

I got my soy from Holland and Barrett and take 5 pills before bed from cd3-7. I think boots have them too.

  • Abis - What a shocking response from your locum GP. Ignore everything she told you and make an appointment for your regular one asap.
Your BMI sounds about the same as mine, I have tried REALLY hard over the last year to lose weight on my own and it just would not shift until the doc put me on metformin. Now when I eat right and exercise the weight comes off exactly as it should. Please try again with another doctor.

Vic - I can't find a link for your chart to take a look. What went wrong?

Tink - Good luck with the running. I've never been sporty but I do like long walks with my dogs.

TCD - The Duo sounds interesting. I think we will all be needing regular updates from you....£500 is a lot cheaper than IVF;)

Amen to all the ladies with weighty issues :D I can loose weight when I put my mind to it, I just put it on very very very easily. I could also do with shifting a bit.

I too got my Soy from Holland and Barrett, and for the first few cycles I took 80mg a day, then 120mg. The tabs from there come in 40mg doses. For the final cycle, I thought "f**k it" and took 200mg (max dose) a day, and all it did was give me a massive LH surge that lasted atleast 6 days and one almighty migrane. I ran out of OPK's after that so couldn't test anymore. As you can see, I am still not pregnant so it didn't work for me!

It's generally taken in the same way clomid is I believe, CD1-5, CD2-6, CD3-7 or CD5-9, and you are advised to start on a low dose and build up. The side effects can be quite bad too, and it gave me horrendous headaches. Migranes I would call them actually.

I head about the 10% body weight loss thing too.

Hopefully your other GP will be a little more helpful and a lot nicer.

    *hugs to everyone*

Sorry for the post and run, the in-laws are on their way. They are supposed to be here between 3 and 4.

Being overweight is the main reason I never went to the doctors in the states (no insurance was the other) and why I'm very hesitant to go here in the UK. I need to lose half of my body weight to even enter into the 'normal' BMI range for me. I'm not worrying about it until after the new year, but I will be working hard at losing weight starting the beginning of the year. I'm up for posting my weight, any setbacks, issues, and such here or on another thread. I know that I need encouragement because my motivation is still practically nil. I know that if we work together we can accomplish anything we set our mind to!
