Yipppeee yet another FB pregnancy announcement...Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0

She has a regular menstural cycle. Every 28 days exact whereas me, her Mum had a 35 day cycle. I'm not sure what time of day she is testing her ovulation but she has been testing it daily for a couple of months now after day 12 and still hasnt conceived. She assures me they are 'doing it' enough.
Ive gone through basal body temperatures with her along with fertile mucus (all things i am familiar with). Interestingly enough my basal body temperature never rose it just dipped but along with the fertile mucus i always knew when i was ovulating.
Thanks for your input, I'll stick to my original recomendation for her to wait for 12 months (but i'm hoping medical intervention wont be needed obviously).
Re opks - I'm reading your reply as that she's using them from cd12 onwards. If she's got a 28day cycle, with a normal LP of 10-16 days, she could be ovulating as early as day 12, and the lp surge is usually detected up to 72 hours in advance, so really she should be using the opk's well before cd12 in order to catch the surge. She also will likely have a better chance if catching the surge if she uses them 2-3 times a day, after restricting her fluid intake for 3 hrs (for more hormone concentration).
Having said all that, some people don't get on with certain brands/sensitivities of opk, and some just get no joy from them at all. I've been ttc 2yrs and never had a positive opk, even when I have a scan confirming an egg's about to pop! If she wanted, she could try a Clear Blue Fertilty Monitor instead - which did detect impending ovulation for me, and is a lot less faff! (but more expensive)
With no obvious issues with cycle length, I'd be inclined to say wait 12 months, but be aware that in some areas they want you to wait 2 years. Especially while she's young. It's with considering though that it's considered perfectly normal for it to take a year, or even 18 months-2yrs, even with no issues at all. There's only around a 25% chance of conception in any given cycle, even with perfectly timed intercourse

If you ov'd at CD10, then you are still only 3DPO. It takes at least 7 days for the embryo to implant and start producing hcg hormones (and morning sickness), so I'd say it's too early for pg symptoms.
But then again, with your recent mc, your hormones could be out of whack and you may have ov'd earlier.
Hope it's the beany doing it's mischief, but it could also be a bug. If it's a bug, hope it clears soon, and if it was the bean, let us know!
Hi there - I posted a few weeks ago about weird symptoms I was having, but it now looks like it was co-incidence/all in my head, as I'm back to square one as of yesterday.
Ho hum. November really seems to be a depressing month:(0 -
Hi ladies, just delurking to say hello - hope you are all well?
Not sure what is happening with my body right now - on for a longer than usual cycle this month. Been pretty much regulated for the last few months but doesnt seem to want to appear this month.
Could be a bit of upheaval due to my new job and hubby being away with work I guess, and with that we only managed to BD once so I am probably out anyway unless I ov'd really late.
I do feel like I've been having AF symptoms since Sunday but I dont usually get them for this long without it appearing. It's only 11 days since our BD so too early to do a test anyhow so guess I'll just hang on for another few days.
Hubby got his 2nd sa results back a few days ago too - still really low but an improvement on the first one. Hopefully if they keep on improving and I can lose a bit more weight we might be able to get pg sometime next year. Not quite been able to move over to the 12month+ board yet despite it being more like 18 - comfy lurking here for now!!!
Still thinking about Q - I've not had much time to read back so don't know if there are any updates since I was last here??0 -
Hi all just popping on quickly.
Bigs hugs abis and MV. Thanks for the update on QQ also. Fingers crossed for her when she gets back home.
Thanks for the list fanna.
Hi miffy:j.
I would agree on the 12mths too Judi. Spoke to my doc whilst in last week and she wasnt that interested and old me i was trying (and off the pill) long enough (8mths).
Becca, why did your doc think you have pcos if you dont mind me asking? Saw mine last week as above and she wasnt keen on investigating at this point. Strange how different doctors think such different things. She does seem like shes in the stop stressing and thinking about it and it will magically happen camp.
Afm af is on the way out so let operation Christmas BFP commence!!:cool:0 -
Becca ment to add- my doc said it sounds like im not ovulating either but she said she sees people who have come off the pill taking 10mths or so to even get there first af so she was still hopeful it will happen.0

Yes, i forgot sperm can live in the body up to 72 hours. Since i am no longer ovulating ive forgot such a lot.
Thanks for the tip about restricting her fluid intake. That is new to me.
I will suggest she starts testing earlier than day 12 then just in case.
She is due 'on' today.... so fingers crossed that this month is the month. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Evening all. Squirrel, I moved to the +12 months board and its helpful for more medical stuff, but i still hang out here (presuming I can find the thread! ). Glad dhs sa went better second time. So did ours and it was nice to get not bad news - even though not great. ’borderline normal’ will do me!
I'm off for the Colposcopy tomorrow. Thanks mv and Fanny for the pms, it really helped and hopefully I'll be as calm as you both after its over tomorrow.0 -
Good luck T2D!!
P.s. Judi, it's said that in the right environment, swimmers can live for up to a week. The LH surge can happen up to 72hrs prior to ov, but more likely within 36hrs I think."I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0
