Birdie, I don't mind changing in front of strangers, but don't like doing it when there's someone I know:o
Oh I absolutely hate getting changed in front of people I know, and especially communal showers (in fact I just refuse to have them, I would rather go home smelly and shower there). I won't even go swimming with my friend as I don't want to have to get changed in front of her! Daft I know, and the weird thing is that I'm not even prudish, I'll go topless on holiday and so on, and I don't care at all when it's strangers. Silly girl.

Glad it's not just me! :o Although I'm still a bit awkward about getting my kit off in front of strangers too; the closest I get to going topless on holiday is unfastening my bikini top when I'm lying on my front! :p

Where are you going on your holiday?:)

You mean I haven't waffled on about it enough?! ;) Orlando! :D Too blimmin' excited! OH was reminding me yesterday that he wanted to go in September and if it had been up to him we'd be there right now. :p I really hope the weather is great so he can't tell me off for wanting to go later in the year! :o We're there for the very start of the Christmas season, should be good if not a little bizarre seeing Christmas trees in glorious sunshine! Not as odd as Harry Potter World where everything is covered in 'snow' I suppose! :p

Also, question (for LilyMay), I've been wanting to ask for ages but don't want to sound like I'm challenging a fertility specialist's opinion! I know the FS said you aren't ovulating, but was that purely based on the CD21 bloods you had done? I am amazed... especially if you OV on about CD21, your progesterone levels won't be high enough. I had CD21 bloods done and the prog levels were really really low, but the GP said that doesn't mean I'm not ovulating, possibly just ovulating late. You have such regular cycles I'd be amazed if you weren't ovulating.

Anyway, like I said, I don't want to sound like I'm challenging the FS, just interested and confused as to what results they are basing the opinion on that you aren't ovulating......

I asked her the same thing! I explained all about my charts (even took them with me) and that I did get a temp rise etc etc.

She just said that my results were abnormally low, even for pre-ov. I can't remember exactly but my progesterone level was <0.1 or something similar. I think ov is anywhere above 30? To be honest, I was a bit worried because obviously i have had no problems before and i had only been trying about 7 months when they refered me. I took that to mean my blood results showed quite a serious issue.
Having said that, when I saw the FS I asked her about getting a temp rise which she said they didn't use because it can be affected by too many things. I also asked about the + OPK's and she said they only detect a surge hormone and don't actually confirm I am ovulating.

They did another set of bloods (as I was CD21) on my appointment but I don't know what those results showed.

I do actually think I am ovulating....but i think I have an internal problem that is related to my c-section. It's just a gut feeling I have had all along. I guess the HSG will give me more of an idea about that.

    OK, so it's estrogen:o
I know QQ has experimented with not eating sugar in the first half of the cycle but i thought that was for the PCOS insulin resistance business x x
Yes it was for PCOS, and it didn't work:o

    Thanks very much ladies!

I'm wondering if my diet has been the reason I have been ov'ing quite late. I tend to snack of a lot of naught foods and although I'm not fat, the sugar is still entering my body!

I've been really careful this month with what i've been eating so mayve thats why Ive ov'ed earlier?

As you said Teamlowe - it's Worth keeping up the healthy diet anyway :)
I don't think there's anything wrong with your cycle:)
It is regular enough, and you've been pg before:cool:
Weird thing... as this is my first month of charting I'm not used to what my BBT is like at various points of the month, but I expected that it would level out after ovulation. Instead it is still climbing. Is this normal?
Could we have a look at your chart please?
    Still climbing sounds promising:cool:

LilyMay - I think that's right, especially refined sugars/carbs. I know you don't have PCOS, but a low GI diet is often recommended to help people with PCOS, because it can encourage earlier ovulation (I might be spouting carp here, maybe check with a Doctor.... like Abis for example?! :rotfl:) The book I've been reading called 'Fit for Fertility' has a really good section on diet, and I think it does make a big difference.
Over the past few years, just about all the claims for a Low GI diet have been disproved (except the one that it helps to lose weight, but even then, no more than any other restricted intake diet)
A review of the claims that Low GI Diets help with PCOS can be found here: http://foodhospital.channel4.com/conditions/PCOS/low-gi-diet and I've quoted the summary below:
Overall research concludes that a healthy diet and a healthy weight are good goals for people with PCOS. A low glycaemic index diet can be part of this pattern but it has not yet been proven to reduce symptoms itself. The key element in any diet is the reduction in insulin resistance and the amount of testosterone in the bloodstream. A low GI diet will achieve this, if adhered to, but so will other weightloss regimes.
In any event, a low GI diet has absolutely nothing to do with (or impact on) ovulation.

Thanks for this - there is so much conflicting information out there!

I think I'll just eat chips and chocolate this cycle and see what happens :rotfl:

thanks for that, very interesting information

but i do disagree with your conclusion (rather pedanitically i'll admit) a low gi diet in particular may not have any effect on your cycle but losing weight will improve a PCOS lady's chance of a regular cycle

Personally i'd recommend a low gi diet to everyone as it's healthy, sustainable and easy to follow. and my own anecdotal evidence is that i lost no weight on weightwatchers but 3 stone in 18 months once i was told that a low gi diet would be best for me and switched. of course, i'm sure most of that is because it was a consultant gynae who told me that so a placebo/psychological effect. Plus low gi suits my lifestyle/mindset x x
