Car Stereo: Mp3, SD card, usb, line in.... £29

Mine's all wired in and working well - but not without a bit of effort on my part. I removed my Kenwood CD player (the OH is over the moon, as that is now in his car), stuck the Tevion in and all seemed well....until I turned it off. No memory, even though the light on the front of the stereo (when the head unit was taken off) was flashing. I fiddled about with the wires, swapped the red and orange around, but still no memory. Eventually, I joined the red and orange together to give it a permanent connection, bypassing the ignition connection. It STILL lost its memory (but after about 2 hours). Fiddled with it again today, reconnected the red to red and orange to orange and it worked! It hasn't lost its memory since. It plays straight from my 40gb MP3 player/HDD via USB (think it's a Goodmans, but might be wrong - was a cheapy in Argos). It plays straight from my Medion 1gb MP3 player via USB. It plays my 512mb SD card fine. The sound isn't as good as my Kenwood, but I didn't expect it to be. The radio isn't as good either (seems to be less efficient at picking up a strong signal). Overall, I'm really happy with it.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

Took my stereo out of my 54 plate vw polo and stuck this in, seems that the memory is being held as when i turn engine off and radio goes off then turn back on it continues to play my usb from where it stopped, still awaiting my aerial adaptor, but apart from that im very happy with it, sound quality seems very good, although havent tried it with the radio, or other settings. Great spot!!0

Mine is happily sat in a 94 Renault 19. I did need the Renault to ISO harness but got it cheap off ebay a while back for my last stereo. No wire switching required either, my orange and red were in the correct sockets already!
Only issue I had was having SO MANY leads behind it now it doesn't fit 100% all the way in. but I'm sure that with a bit of patience and some Duck tape I can get most of the wires out of the way!
Only one thing left to do... turn the volume up and switch the Loudness on! My four-way's and my components do like a bit of bass!Librarian: "Ook ook ookity OOK OOK!"

When I first attached the cables everything was working except for the memory in the unit.
I then switched the red and yellow cable. Now the unit + the dashboard clock don't work.
I have to connect all 4 wires together to get the stereo to work now, but now the dashboard and hasn't got any memory (clock resets each time car is started) nor has the stereo
When I put back the original cables (i.e. red to red, yellow to yellow) Nothing works
If anyone has a clue of what I'm saying please respond, and it'll be even better if I get a solution to this very annoying problem0 -
I do hope you have insurance for " Fire " ...

You shouldn't have messed with the yellow wire. The orange and red ones are the ignition and permanent live. You've probably blown a fuse somewhere. Check your fuses and swap the red and orange wires (I cut mine and used connectors to join them).
Something I should have mentioned before, and which probably caused my initial problems, my wiring loom's connection to the stereo had a wire loose. I noticed it yesterday, when messing about. It had popped right out of the connection block which plugs into the back of the stereo. If you have major problems with power and memory, check the connections, as the quality of the wiring loom for this stereo leaves a bit to be desired. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

Yellow wire is the ignition
I think your right about fuse, because when I reattached the previous stereo nothing worked (that was with the untouched cable).
Now I have to find a mechanic who will replace the fuse0 -

Yellow is not the ignition (not on the wiring loom that comes with the stereo). On your car's stereo wiring (i.e. after the loom), the yellow wire is the ignition. It's not the case on the stereo's loom, though. Don't touch the wires beyond the loom. Swap the red and orange over before the loom (between the stereo and the loom). Orange is the permanent live and red is the ignition (or vice versa). Look at the wiring diagram on the stereo. It shows this quite clearly. The Orange has a fuse on it, too.In a rut? Can't get out? The Yellow wire I'm referring to is 'ISO Wiring Harness adapter' which connects my car wiring to the stereo wiring.
I have already swapped it and I'm now positive that the fuse has blown which you mentioned before, as the previous stereo isn't working now, nor does the dashboard clock stay on when the car is off0
