frizz_head wrote: »Yes, I agree, the OS DT has become The Arms MKII, and before you all jump in and say how 'unfriendly' and 'unwelcoming' The Arms is, it is no different to the little community that you have all built up here. It is groups of people who have become friendly as a result of posting in the same place day after day.
I may not be entirely happy with the way this thread is at times, but it is never more than just silly. And as I say those with the biggest complaints have been just as guilty on this thread from time to time, but seem to forget that
I don't have a problem with people disagreeing with me, and I certainly don't post here for the "thanks" count. I'm of the firm opinion we should keep the button but get rid of the count. I've never seen the point of the totals, and half the time the bl**dy thing doesn't work:rotfl:

Well I'm back after my meeting and I've been reading through the thread. What a shame that it seems that the mood has changed from one of fun and lightheartedness to one of finger pointing and confusion.
And now I'm probably going to risk being hung, drawn and quartered by giving my opinion.
I don't post as often as I used to but only because I often don't have a lot to say. If I can now only post about washing, cooking and cleaning and OS then I won't be posting during the week because I work full-time and the housework and OS stuff is usually reserved for weekends and to be quite honest my housework and OS stuff is pretty much the same as everyone elses.
I don't have a problem with photos or with the one liners. If I don't want to read them then I just skip over them and read the longer posts.
I think there is a balance to be had but that balance should be reached with consideration and respect for the individuality of the forum members. Being too prescriptive about what topics can be discussed is probably not going to encourage newcomers to join in and may act to discourage those, like myself, who are not clear about what they can and cannot say.
I remember when I first found this thread in December and just how friendly, tolerant and understanding everyone was. Fortunately there are still a lot of friendly, tolerant and understanding folk still here - I suspect that they, like me, will be bemused by the whole discussion this afternoon.
Well, I think I'll now pack up my stuff and get out of here. Maybe I'll venture back when it's settled down a bit.Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts - DFW Nerd 323

I'm new so don't know what the thread used to be like, will try not to upset or annoy people though!
Had a rubbish day at work, got here at 8am and wont be leaving until 8pm so no tasty OS meal planned for my dinner (though had leftover stew for lunch...yummy) but will NOT get a takeaway on the way home because they are BANNED!
Any very quick and OK to eat not too long before bed (can't be dying of night starvation) ideas would be welcomed
Left out shepherds pie which I made and froze for the bf but know there wont be any left for me!! :rolleyes:Official DFW Nerd Club - Member #398 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T

I think OS has become discussion forum (DF) for the day:D
I find, like anywhere in life, there is an atmosphere in every thread/forum, some you like, some you don't and you don't go where you don't feel comfortable or relevant.
If anyone feels there is bullying on here, I find the financial pages very cutting when I have gone there for some advice. I find it ironic as this is a money saving board.
I like the atmosphere in OS and in the Arms and post in them according to my mood. That is the beauty of this board, we are all different and there is so much choice.
There is bound to be an overlap but do notice the difference. An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

Very well put Churchmouse - I agree totally.:T
I do understand what people are saying re the one liners etc however in my case it was the way they said it - I think it would have been better if it had been put a little more diplomatically. Must admit I dont like confrontation myself unless it cant be avoided.
Changing the subject - have my first ms assignment tomorrow and am feeling a little nervous - anyone with any tips as to how to remember all that they want to know?0 -
Ok - the thread in The Arms is MT thread - for MY inane comments - you can join in or not as you wish. The Arms is the place for such threads - as well as a lot more serious, informative or funny threads.
Oh, and for those of you who haven't ventured into the Arms before - you think my thread is inane - you should have read some of the other ones over previous months and years - they HAVE been inaneBut good with it.
Right - HM shepherd's pie for tea, then an evening of laundry for me. May even get chance to watch a dvd if Mr TM decides to watch tv in the bedroom or spend the evening on the PC (please)
