Goodness, its all kicked off on here today!!!!
The reason i post here is because basically im a lonely person, who has very little adult contact, and the adults i do speak to all tends to be about children!!!! I like OS because its not just the way i live my life, but its also nice to hear about other peoples days. Its the adult conversation that i dont get in 'real' life.
Must admit, i do get a bit fed up of loads of posts by one person commenting on one thing, when they could put 3 - 4 posts in one, and sometimes the one liners about nothing much (although im sure to the poster it is something) does get a bit much sometimes - but i do enjoy it when people want to share extra things with us, like someone commented earlier, it is an over the fence type thread. I would also add, i know people say they should go back and edit a post, but once ive read someones post, i dont go back and read it again, so if they edit it, i wouldnt see it.
Thats why i think the daily thread is so important - sharing what im doing/have done and hearing about other peoples days and celebrating with them, or commiserating with them helps me through the day and i do hope that it carrys on and people still feel they can post what they are up to, and if anyone needs a hug, can still ask for one!
So.... Taplady - Congratulations on your anniversary, hope you have a lovely evening.
mrs_mix - well done on the comp win, the sort of ompetition i would love to win!!!! I enter loads of them via the comp board, but nothing yet!!!
dlb - hope tomorrow goes ok xxx
Aussie - enjoy the bingo!!!
(((HUGS))) to anyone ive missed, or who would just like one.
We were good today, walked to pick the children up from school, and then made my cheats chicken curry - although i then realised that i had forgotton the yogurt, so we walked to the shop!!! They didnt have any yogurt so i bought cream, which was just as good (a bit more fattening tho!!!)
Starting to feel cold now (i always feel the cold, much prefer the heat) the wind has picked up, and it will prob be raining tomorrow, just as ive started the healthier walking, but never mind - will be getting in my pjs in a minute and making a nice hot cup of tea.
Hope everyone has a lovely evening,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
well no one else seems to mind, infact people are joing in.. its having a bit of harmless fun, nothing here is meant to hurt or upset anyone, and we are not posting about nothing.. if someone posts then it is something to them, .. lighten up !!!!
AMIE399 - no offense intended, but, playing devil's advocate only, you have posted 30+ posts on today's daily thread alone :oNo, you haven't hurt or upset mebut, like others have said, it has made catching up with posts somewhat difficult. I know you are not alone in this, or the picture thing, but, we have to *all* respect that Martin set up the Money Savers Arms for pix and chitchat.
Squeaky is quite right in his announcement - the OS Daily Thread was never meant as a free for all posting place; I know it - I was the instigator in our Daily Thread.
Now please, do take a deep breath and bear with me a minute - as new people join in, they become enthusiastic and want to add their own personlity to the whole thread - nothing wrong in that! - but, there has always been a reason for this thread in the first instance, otherwise, it would have been consigned to the Arms as well. And believe me, that is what initially occured and caused a HUGE discussion at that time.
Periodically, that discussion raises it's head - this is one of those times; it ISN'T a personal attack on any individual, and I'm so sorry you feel it to be one (I can empathise). BUT, like anything in life where groups of people gather, there needs to be a broad outline of what is and isn't acceptable - this thread has to please the MAJORITY and can't truly accomodate individuals ... not even me
OS has to stick within certain guidelines and structures, just as the other boards within MSE have to do.On a personal level, I haven't had the time to catch up on everyones doings simply because I *do* get put off by the one liners, graphics - I haven't raised issue with them, but admittedly, I do find it off putting: I do know though, that if I go into the Arms, that is what to expect. Please, do not feel hurt or affronted; I can understand how you feel, but do not let it dictate the future. ((hugs))
Have a couple of days away, think about the logistics, the site rules, the BG's tough discission making (which cannot possibly please ALL the people ALL the time) and the need, as a whole site (bit like a filing cabinet) needing to keep like with like.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And after all of that, ... just a quickie from me :rotfl:
Had a funtastic lunch today with The Girls - too much to say in too little time, so we've made a firm booking for one months time to share another lunch and a gossip
Boys were treated to a Nachos Dinner, courtesy of Co Op (BOGOF) seeing as I had already had my own treatTREAT???? Hell no, that was THERAPY!!! :rotfl: You can't beat getting together with like minded others! And as I had coupons for the Toby to cover us all, £7 per head really wasn't too extravagant
If my spelling is akilter - blame the fizzy water (with a slice!) and intoxication of having a good belly laugh with people who make your world seem a brighter, lighter place. :rotfl:
Back to reality tomorrow when it's back to yet more study!!
Did you know, I've taken 17 exams since mid November??? (Passed every one too, btw) Now taking another 5. Gosh it's hard work being me sometimes
Catch you all when I get another pocket of time to call my own ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

i think for me you have hit the nail on the head queenie when you say what a tonic it was to be out with your friends, i think we all need that, but i for one dont have that with looking after dh for a long time and the daily thread is a substitute for that to me i really wouldnt feel comfortable in the arms and as you said you cant beat being with like minded others, i do agree with what you said in your first post here though xx0 -

Gosh, what a long thread!
Lots of chatter and I'm keeping out of the drama, oh yes!
Pup is chewing on a great whites ear (natural and cheap, plus he loves them) and I have stocked up for the week after teaching a class this afternoon, am doing some supply tomorrow.
Not sure what I'm cooking for dinner tonight but last night I did not give in to the jar of korma sauce.... made my own instead, with cream instead of yogurt, like catowen made this eveningI should've added more spices though... I always worry as OH doesn't like things too spicy, but moans when things aren't spicy enough!! Well I enjoyed it much more than shop bought so that's all that matters I've decided!!
Really looking forward to the Easter holidays as I am going to blitz the cupboards and freezer... complete overhaul am hopefully will be able to sort ourselves out a lot more food-wise! I might be working more regularly, so am going to make lots of OS frozen 'ready meals' to pop in the oven/microwave when need be!! My slow cooker will be on overdrive!! So will Ebay as I hope that I'll be able to sort out the spare room... have been looking at houses and combined with the rut I'd got myself into, I'm trying to inspire myself to work towards the aim of being out of this flat by this time next Easter and into a house!
As always, hugs are available if you want them....
Congrats to taplady on your wonderful anniversary.... mmm vanilla!!
*Hoping I get to watch something good on tv tonight and not the footie*
