congrats for your anniversary taplady
well done queenie on passing all you exams dont know how find the time
i think for me you have hit the nail on the head queenie when you say what a tonic it was to be out with your friends, i think we all need that, but i for one dont have that with looking after dh for a long time and the daily thread is a substitute for that to me i really wouldnt feel comfortable in the arms and as you said you cant beat being with like minded others, i do agree with what you said in your first post here though xx
On the daily thread front - I'll let you into a secret - although it won't be now!!
I do empathise, genuinely I do. For me too, the daily thread, in fact, MSE as a whole has been a "substitute" (to use your wording) and even I felt uncomfortable in the Arms, on a number of occasions. To balance that though, I've felt "uncomfortable" in OS on a couple of occasions too: when the majority opinion was in conflict with my own.
I don't post particular "personal" posts in the Daily - ie: I post about my "doings", but not about my personal circumstances.
Today, I will alter that so that a bit of perspective is put on my take on things.
Up until 16mths ago, I too relied upon the internet relationships to see me through my day. I was stuck in a controlling relationship and had been real-life starved of companionship. All that changed when my dh called one coffee break morning to tell me he wouldn't be home for dinner. In fact, wasn't coming home anymore; he'd left me. No other woman; no other fantasy fulfilling amibition ... just his lust for work as his sole reason for being. It was what fulfilled his ego/self esteem and nearly killed mine.
Now, I'm not having a pity-pooh party here, I'm merely saying how much I *know* an internet environment can be a very real, worthwhile and sometimes, the ONLY contact one has with the real world.
I'm not going to go into further detail, but, suffice to say, there had been periods in my lifetime with my dh where the ONLY reason I had to get up in the morning were for the contact of an internet forum.
I really DO understand that need, the loneliness, the isolation.
What I *can* say, without any apology is, we *all* have our own reasons for being here and for the time we spend here. That isn't in dispute. Without breaking any confidences, I know for a fact there are others who equally depend upon this areana for their sanity and for their daily dose of human contact. The fact remains, no matter how personally we take our time here, nor how personally *involved* it may be within our life structure, we all have to adhere to certain "guidelines". We, as individuals may not like it, but, nonetheless, we have it to do.
I really hope that others - yes, I have to remind myself of this sometimes too - take a step back and just take a few deep breaths and regroup our thoughts. NOTHING IS PERSONAL - no matter how much it may FEEL so at the time.
Sometimes, it's the push that is needed to fuel our desires to the point where we absent ourselves and find something equally fulfilling in our real lives - or, we compromise and fulfil our needs within the boundaries set here.
That choice will always be an individual one
I hope everyone who gains something positive, remains. If it only cause hurt and negativity, step back, regroup and examine your fundamental reasons for being - I say that with love, not critisism. Fill your life with positives - life's too short!!! (Yes, and even *I* have to step back occasionally and regroup)

Good Evening All
OH has just gone to his parents house to watch the football, as we cancelled sky ages ago, so he cant watch it here! Tee hee!
me & the kids have just had a slice of HM moist carrot cake! It'll be teeth cleaned for them & bed soon, then I can chill out and enjoy the space from OH.
I must also like to say :T to Queenie, she has made a lot of sense of todays episode. Im not a great involver in conflict. Thats why Ive kept my opinions to myself. But one thing I will say, to use someone's pictures in another thread and make fun of - is not very amusing. I would be hurt if that happened to me!
But hey, a new day tomorrow and new beginning & fresh start, and lets hope OS is back!
Goodnight all
Love as usual

Everyone.
Well, good news (in a way) re OH. He has had a severe angina attack, it turns out that he was in considrable pain on Monday - found out today - He didn't tell me as he knew I would do a 999. The GP can not prescribe anything for this as he has a very severe aortic stenosis which is deteriorating more rapidly than normal and he thinks that an op is on the cards very soon. He has purposely put him off until we see the surgeron on Tuesday and OH will have to see him again afterwards to decide about work depending on what the surgeon says IYSWIM.
Finished my cleaning and been out to pick up some bits and pieces. One more wash to do and then I must clean out this fish tank - still waiting to be done since the weekend.:pTaplady.
Re this afternoon, I am also guilty of posting photos and I pledge that from this day forward I will cease and desist. Glad you liked the OS hunk though and Moggins and Amie and others who thought he should remove the bowl - so do I and if I ever find his pic without the bowl yours will be the first pm's to receive him.;)
Amie, please do not go. I for one will miss you and your enthusiasm, which is very obvious in your posting style.:D Just do longer ones like me and edit in what comes to mind later on;)
Well that's your lot for today, have a good night everyone.
See you,
Smoky. xxIf you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape 100 days of sorrow.......Chinese proverb

As always, Queenie, you manage to express things in such a lovely and non-critical way. I'm really sad to hear about your own struggles but I think it definitely shows that your experiences have made you into a really warm, understanding person who is able to touch others through the internet.
I'm not a 'proper' OS'er - I like to browse through this board in general and the daily thread, in particular as it is such a warm and vibrant thread. I'm also really nosey and love hearing about the mundane aspects of other people's daily lives. Occasionally I post in this thread and it does help to make me feel motivated and I go off with all good OS intentions....doesn't always amount to much but I'm never going to be a domestic goddess unfortunately.
I don't post/look at the Arms much to be honest and wouldn't keep coming back to this thread if it began to be too similar. I find the Arms a bit like walking into a school playground and having nobody to skip with - a feeling that I haven't come across in this board. I think Ticklemouse was brave to raise the issue - photos aren't everybody's cup of tea.Perhaps people could just add the link to a page where others could view their pics rather than posting complete photos on here.
Anyway, I've rambled on a bit too much.... I've had a hellish day at work and been criticised by all manner of other professionals for things that are entirely out of my control. Just come on here for some light relief and banter. Hope everybody comes back here tomorrow feeling refreshed and has a proper chat with no resentment or hard feelings. xx0 -
Good evening
Just a quick post before I plan for tomorrows lessons and catch up on a bit of marking.
I often look but don't have much time for chat. I like to read about the everyday OS things people do - hoping my turn will come sooner rather than later.
Breast of lamb casserole for tea tonight which was quick and cheap done in the pressure cooker. Only cost £3.12 and served five, including three teenagers so I did have time to do one OS thing today. Also, vacuumed the car ready to sell at the weekend having swapped it for a more managable Mica so DD1 can learn to drive.
262 days till I can retire.Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0
