Spill the beans... on when you seriously BULK buy

  • I always stock up on Bertolli spread when it's half price. We nor ally use just under a pack a week, so if I buy two packs each week when the offer is on I'm not spending more but then can save while I use the stock.

Same applies to Mr S's wine offers. Bit more to pay out each week but I get 6 bottles of my favourite Pinot Grigiot for less than half price. I've got six month's worth in stock at the moment!!!

  • When my dad died we went to the house he shared with mum and found enough Andrex toilet rolls to last our family of 4 a year!!! So that saved us a lot - shame I don't like Andrex but it saved us a bomb!

I bulk buy whatever I see that is on offer that I usually get, that's expensive - same as most others get already on here!

I do all these - anything that will keep really.
I once heard a term on these forums of being STABLE i.e. having a Stash Beyond Life Expectancy. Sound familiar anyone :rotfl:
  • I used to buy toilet roll in bulk when I lived alone and was made fun of as a result because I had over 100 toilet rolls in my cupboard.

We don't have the space to do that kind of buying now, unfortunately, so we stick to what we can store. We use the farm shop for our meat and buy in bulk then freeze it in meal size bags. We get chicken breast from Makro as it is less than £20 for 5kg which I think is a bargain and it's not watery like alot of supermarket chicken - it keeps it's size when cooked.

Washing powder, fabric softner, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid we buy in bulk.

We'll go to Farm Foods every couple of months and stock up on bread and milk (although they've removed their offers it's still only 85p for Hovis and 75p for 2lt milk). If you're lucky enough to have a body freezer like we have, freeze anything perishable.

i bought a whole supermarket contents last year(that went bankrupt). Still eating it now.(thats kinda cheating lol)

Mccain chip 10-20 bags at a time.Paid 2 pound last time
    Findus chicken fillets 12 box's £1 each
usual sugar, toilet rolls etc from costco
Bought 100+ double rolls of sellotape from tesco few year back at 25p each

Ill buy just about any food with more than 75% of in bulk. Quantity is not a problem.

Question depends on the definition of bulk !!!!!
  • I bulk buy tins and packets that I use all the time and things like washing powder, bog roll, soap, etc. Makes life easier meaning that I'm not having to shop for the same stuff every time. I can basically haul in for the winter and not run out of stuff. :D

My newest bulk buy is herbs and spices. I bought 1kg of black pepper corns - £15 online. Much cheaper than buying those silly little 30g boxes for £3 a pop.

Failing that, I tend to bulk buy deodorant, shampoo etc - my bathroom looks like a chemist!

asda do rajah peppercorns, 100g for 84p, so a kilo would be £8.40
they are often on offer 2 for £1.50
  • Tesco currently have Branston beans 1/2 price - but then put out 6 for the price of 4 packs in error. That equated to 20p a can so have 6 months worth in the cupboard now!

Also this week packs of 80 PG teabags for 50p... bought 35 so plenty of tea for a while.
