Spill the beans... on when you seriously BULK buy

I grew up with bulk buying. We had bulk beds that had storage under neath and my mother made sure she never missed a bargain.
I buy all our meat at costco but have no seen the addicted to costo site!!! For two of us our meat and fish comes to about £45.00 per month. I get the toilet paper and split it with my mohter in law. I bake a lot so i get all the flour, cherries and sugar there. Also the youghurt is so cheap at costco!0 -
5 Litre bottles of Cold pressed extra virgin rapeseed oil (we don't like to cook in oil that was treated with solvents yack!). In the shop it is £3.5 for 0.5 Litre, from the farm we buy 5 litres for £10 or £15 if buying via mail order. Many farmers sell on ebay directly or other sites, it is cheaper and locally produced in the UK. You might even find an organic verity.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

Just looking back over that list, it reflects a far more lavish lifestyle than I would proclaim to have (fairly healthy, make-do-and-mend, economise at every opportunity etc)
I don't like economy tinned toms as too 'wet', won't pay full price (or anything like it) for premium so compromise on Aldi's own, unless Cirio are on offer, when I will bulk buy.
I do get annoyed though that a lot of the best offers are on processed food, which I rarely buy, but that's because there is a bigger mark up on those to start with.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

What's MrT? I'm not really with the whole internet language and just took me a fews mins to work out 2A's & 2C's means two adults and two children!
I don't really bulk buy anything unless it's at a good price, have somewhere to store it and actually would buy it anyway!0 -

My rule of thumb is if it's half price or less, or 2-4-1, AND it's something we like which is rarely on special offer, then I'll fill the cupboard! Toilet rolls are a good one though space-consuming.
My favourite recently was half price Tilda basmati rice, which is about the only brand I really like so I got 10 big bags. I'd never seen it half price ever before and might not again so I was well pleased and of course it keeps forever! And 4x baked beans for £1 - can't resist it!0 -
There's only really one thing I ever bulk buy for savings, and that's berocca...Buy the big packs on 3 for 2, try and use a discount code or two, saves a fair bit over a couple of months.
I tend to bulk buy a lot of stuff, anyway...but just because I'm fussy...So when I find a deodorant I like, or jeans, or pants, I tend to buy a whole bunch of them. Doesn't save money, though0 -
I buy dishwasher powder from EBay. It is sold in 10kg buckets for £7.99 plus delivery. It is made from ground up seconds of dishwasher tablets and in my opinion is a bargain. I have used it since last year and have excellent results. This is a huge tub and should last most families a year!0

Our tips are the same as already mentioned. Our nearest Aldi and Lidl are not that local so we bulk buy when we go there which is every 3 to 4 weeks. We like Lidl's instant coffee £1.49 for 100g (sometimes slightly cheaper) so we usually get 10 or 12 jars at a time so as not to run out. I only like premium dishwasher tablets, but find Aldi's Magnum ones are easily as good. Aldi's are £3.99 for 40, so premiums have to be 10p a wash or cheaper to compare. I bought lots of Fairy washing up liquid from Amazon about 2 years ago, which we still have some of (use for cleaning and stain removal as well as occasional washing up), will be trying Aldi's when the Fairy runs out. We buy gallons of vinegar from the farm shop, usually 4 or 6 at a time. It's used instead of clothes softener, as a cleaner, as well as on my chips. Used to buy sacks of spuds, but have found that the waste is very high over the last 2 years due to poor crops, so have gone back to packs from supermarket where you can see what you are getting (our local greengrocers literally doubled the price overnight last month, from £6 to £12 a sack). Also buy lots of frozen veg every week - it is often the same price or cheaper than fresh and because it's already prepped we are eating a lot more veg. I've bought meat packs from the local butcher too, excellent value.
With most of these you need storage and/or a big freezer, which we have. I've had stuff from Approved Food, but it was mainly unnecessaries, used most of it for lunch boxes and treats. Mustn't forget the 99p shop, excellent for shampoo, conditioner and deodorants.0 -
Hi all you fellow moneysavers,
I have got a Booker card, (Macro and Costco are the same) the Loo roll 25p each (40 roll pack), Bread by the tray (10 loaves, and a big freezer)@ 65p per loaf, Worcs Sauce by the 4 litre, (and refill the 1/2 ltr table bottles), price unknown but big saving, t bags by the 1200-1500, Cheese by the 15kg pack, Margerine by the 2kg tub (cheaper still if you buy a six pack), B Beans, Corned beef, tinned Salmon all by the trays price unknown but big saving on the High St, 120 Wash Powder, Crisps by the box (look behind the bar at your local pub) and all normally 2/3rds high st price, all catering sizes and the only down side is you have got to have the money to pay for it all, (my 3 monthly bill is £250-£300, and room to store it all, and of course the willpower to not raid it when you feel peckish.
Enjoy
