Wow thank you all for your comments, I didnt expect to get such a response.
We have already decided to give them a thank you card and some flowers/cake when the dreaded shifts are over just as a way of thanking them (Although i have only asked once) and our other neighbours who we are on a friendship level with get dinner (which is nothing new anyway as any excuse to open a bottle of wine and enjoy some good food and company)
And then of course we are rewarding ourselves with a lovely weeks holiday in a private villa in the middle of knowhere
Thank you all again for your comments and if you dont get on with your neighbours or havent made the effort then why not give them a friendly smile if you see them today. You never know when you might need them
