What commands does your dog know?

Bailey can sit, lie down, twist, roll over, head down, paw, other paw, high 5, speak, speak louder and stay. Lola on the other hand can only sit - she's a bit thick

I think I can finally add another command to the list: 'lie down' although I have to keep repeating myself several times until Charlie actually lies down instead of sitting there giving me both his paws.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0

Ruby knows SIT, DOWN, NO!, GENTLY, ROLL OVER, TICKLE TUMMY, BUSY (wee), POOP (self-explanatory!)and WAIT - at a kerb so she sits. It's STAY that she has problems with. She also understands WHERE'S DAD and SAY HELLO which means she can go and greet another dog.
My previous dogs understood "EXCUSE ME" which meant move out of the way and HOT, when I dropped hot food on the floor they knew to leave it to cool!
Dexter at 9 weeks is learning NO and I'm working on BUSY and POOP! It's really difficult to train him when Ruby keeps distracting him so I'm waiting until I can take him out on his own to start on the basic commands."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -

That reminds me of my two dogs I lost last year, although I used the word 'move'

Our dog isn't as refined as yours, she only knows "SHIFT"
If we drop food it doesn't actually reach the floor :rotfl:14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
unknown to my OH I taught my staffie to fall backwards from a sitting position from the command PHeww! (my OH had stinky feet and a habit of taking his trainers off when sitting down to watch tv). All I had to do was wait till the family were assembled and OH sat down with his tea and biscuits (guaranteed to have Anni sat in front of him) and kick off his trainers.........I said Phewww and Anni fell backwards and without any prompts played dead!!!!!!!!!!! The kids were hysterical laughing, I was too and I swear the cat laughed as well! OH didnt think it was funny, but he never did kick his trainers off in front of Anni again.0

I taught this trick by getting the dog to sit, then holding treat above her nose to 'beg'. then pulling treat behind her until she fell over. give treat. apparently anni was in on the prank! she did a perfect play dead although she hadnt been told to do so!0

Sit, stay, stand(dont use the word 'stand as its too close to the sit sound) down, leave, come, back(for left) right, over (jumping) tunnel, walk on, OK (relax its over basically) wait, speak, be clean (very handy to teach a dog to pee on command) close (heel work) finish (after recall to position to your left to end a recall command and/ or restart heel work)
Erm ... what else did my collie know ...
What she didnt know was paw, roll over, play dead .. but then I didnt really need her to do that!
Oh and she also knew pretty much all the above by sign as well and i could either go round an agility course in 99% silence just using sign and my body language (to turn her left or right etc) or i could pretty much stand in the middle of an agility course and direct her round verbally
Yes I'm a show off and we both loved it ... and I miss my little girl with all my heart EVERY day

'Gently' was one of the first commands I taught my dogs - because a staffy determined on getting her treat is liable to leave you counting your remaining fingers! and a gluttonous Springer Spaniel isnt much better!
as the previous poster says - its a good command to have if you have toddlers or silly kids around!
to be fair - the staffy was always gentle with kids and she was besotted by babies. The springer was an idiot and had to be reminded to calm down.0 -
Sigh, my springer knows far too few, but she's trained me very well.
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0
