VAX don't have to give you a guarantee, you have no contract with them. There is no automatic right to one, what you have is the SOGA there is a difference.
Tesco will use SOGA if there is a problem, after 6 months it can get complicated. What the vast majority expect and what they get are two different things, why do you think this board is so busy.

That's the point, am i under guarantee because i have bought a product and have a receipt

    If not, why not?

Obviously, perhaps, i am in the park of thinking i am covered and this is an extra, essentially optional, way for the company to get your details and sent 'relevant information'

So before i give them my details because i think i MIGHT have to i would like to be sure

I 'm saying what is expected by the vast majority
What the 'vast majority' do does not matter.
Each manufacturer can write whatever terms and conditions they like into their agreement.

Are you saying there isn't a 12 month warranty (sorry guarantee)?
A manufacturer's warranty or guarantee, use which word you like, is in addition to your statutory rights.
    dnet wrote: »
What i've seen you say is yes the card will validate the guarantee. Do you have any more information which would back that up?
As stated above, because it is in addition to your statutory rights, the manufacturer can dictate whatever terms they like.

Like others have said it looks and has the 'feel' of a marketing attempt to get your details on record (for their own benefit)
Yes, of course that is why they want you to register, but read the points I have already made.

If you like i am looking for an authoritative answer :)
Well this paragraph in MSE's Consumer Rights article comes close.

Then why are you on here going round in circles, if you already know the answer.

Because your receipt is just a proof of purchase.

    OP.

A number of retailers dhave done in the past and do so now, buy product from Manufacturers at a cheaper rate, but the product is sold by the manufacturer to the retailer without any form of warranty. I used to work for Asda and most of the Electrical items we sold were purchased without manufacturer support. If consumers brought stuff back, we would either swap, if not viable to repair, or send them to a repair agent set up by Asda for repair.

As other posters have said, why not fill it in, tick the boxes for no marketing/contact and at least have the piece of mind that if anything goes wrong, instead of the usual Tesco hassle of proving you are in the right, you can contact the customer care for Vax and most probably get it fixed quicker and by them.

More than likely, the warranty wasn't supposed to be in the box , it is a mistake, so fill it in and have a lot less hassle and better cover from Vax

There is nothing to say that if i ring VAX up after eight months with a problem they will say 'we will not help as you didn't fill in the card'

No one has said i need to for any particular reason.

No one so far has any experience where because the product wasn't registered they didn't receive help

    Has this happened to you?

But that sounds ok doesn't it?

    I wouldn't care who fixed it :)

They will say your contract is with the retailer and not with them which is what people are trying to tell you.

Why wont you listen to proper advice rather than argue the point?
