Hmmm, ended up going to bed hungry last night. Wondered if I should have had a snack but decided against it as it was pretty late and I couldn't really be bothered, lol. Wish I had now as I've just done the school run and I'm feeling the hunger already! Usually I don't even feel peckish until 11.30am!
I've got my new 'fast food' craze to hand for when I need it, but I'm not sure it'll get me far todayI've fallen in love with pomegranate seeds, lol. It's lovely to have something to nibble on when I'm stuck at my desk for hours on end, and when you finally get all of the seeds out it looks like there are soooooo many, and for so few cals - fab, lol! :j

On fast days I like to have bachelors cup a soups for lunch, they're actually quite filling and are only around 100cals. For tea I've been eating fish or a chicken stir fry and packing in the veg so its more filling.
Think I'll be trying the home made hummus as I love it but tend to binge on it! So if I can make it healthier and in the quantities that I want then thats even better.0 -
Try tescos "light choices" cup soups, the potato & leek is 57cals. I'm going to try it on some fish(wed) as a sauce with carrot/swede mash. Might be a sub for fish pie,hopefully.0

Today is my third fast day.
Over the weekend I made veg soup, I calorie counted it and it made 4 portions that are each 100 cals. In my soup is carrot, celery, white cabbage, cauliflower and knorr stock cubes.
I'm making sweet chilli chicken stir fry for tea, I have weighed everything and should work out at just over 300 cals for quite a large portion. Hurrah for cucumber, lettuce and spring onions being low calorieRock'n'roll:rotfl:

You need to watch the salt content of those. Depending on what else you eat, one a day should be OK though.0 -
YAY!!! Just got on scales and I've lost 4lbs in week :j
Been having a lot of pain in my gums, swollen and bleeding, and just wondering whether this might be side effect of diet. Anyone else had this?Home Schooling mum budgeting for 2 adults, 2 teens, 2 little ones & 3 cats

Hi Guys,
Don't know if anyone's already mentioned it but Dr Michael Mosley has written a 5:2 diet book - here The kindle version only came out on Thurs, and I think the book came out a couple of weeks ago. I'm tempted to get it but after reading one of the reviews it looks like it may not contain much more info than there was on the programme.
I've got the book, and your right it does not seem to contain much more info, although I have still to read it all, there does not seem to be anything in there thats not on this thread! Bit disappointed in the fast sugestions.
I'm on my second week of fasting, 1st fast day of the week today, I had a couple off weeks of at christmas and put on about 5lb! I'm going to do 3 days a week for about a month and I'm also excersising 3 x a week as well, today will be the 1st day I've excersised on a fast day, so I will have my soup & ww bread before I go, hopefully I will be fine! :think:HOW MUCH ?0 -

Don't you think it is more likely to be gum disease rather than a change in your diet?

Thanks for that information but not long ago went to dentist and had good clean and given clean bill of health so seems unlikely in my case.
Changes in skin and other body tissues can often be caused by diet so I was just wondering if it could be from the fasting and if anyone else has had anything like it.Home Schooling mum budgeting for 2 adults, 2 teens, 2 little ones & 3 cats

Thanks Alyssa Mae, you've just saved me £4.15! I did wonder if we'd actually learn anything from it after everything we've learnt from this thread, but was still tempted to buy it anyway, just in case, lol!
Well I scrapped yesterday's fast as I didn't think I'd make it, so I'm doing it today instead.
Ended up trying the hummus with low fat cream cheese as I didn't have any tahini, and didn't fancy trekking out in the awful weather. Although it was ok, the cream cheese added a big chunk of cals, so now I can't have as much as usual, and it just didn't taste quite the same, so I don't think I'll be trying it againLuckily we've got some wholemeal pitta in the cupboard so my eldest will finish it off for me
I've got a pack of prawns for later, not sure what I'll do with them yet. Might make something with them, or might just nibble on them through the evening, will see how I feel later. Feeling very positive today0
