    Hi Guys,

Well I had my first weekly weigh in on Wed and I'd lost 6 lbs! :D Pretty amazed by that as I've done tons of diets before and have never lost more than 4 lbs in a week!

Don't know if anyone's already mentioned it but Dr Michael Mosley has written a 5:2 diet book - here The kindle version only came out on Thurs, and I think the book came out a couple of weeks ago. I'm tempted to get it but after reading one of the reviews it looks like it may not contain much more info than there was on the programme.

Life's Grand Plan - I think that's a fab idea, and it will definitely help us all out to have a few ideas for fast day meals. :D I don't have much time at the moment, but will go into it in more detail when I get back online. I am finding though, that I am better off snacking on low cal bits through the afternoon and evening rather than having a meal as I find that once I've had a meal I 'open the flood gates' so to speak, and am constantly hungry after that! I do like making hummus (houmous?), and having it with cucumber or carrot sticks, apple slices are really nice with it too. If you whizz it up yourself there are a fraction of the cals of shop bought versions. You can do it without oil to go really low cal, just adding extra water for the texture. It doesn't taste the same, but if you add extra flavour it can be really nice like that.

Does anyone have any ideas for a low cal pudding treat to be had on a friday that really feels like you are spoiling yourself??

Really feel i need a treat on that night but so hard not to overindulge and ruin my weeks good work.

Not really a pudding, but Asda sell little packets of bubbly chocolate bites that are 55 calories.

As for pudding, I would probably stick with baked fruit like an apple with a sprinkling of cinnamon, or stewed fruit with sweetner and maybe a small amount of yoghurt.

I'm coming up to completing my first week of the 5:2 diet, the day after my first fast day I did indulge in what I wanted. I haven't felt the need to do it since. It's like because I can eat what I want, I don't feel like I want it iyswim.

    Don't add water!
Add lemon juice, garlic, some ground cumin and a little low fat cream cheese to a tin of chick peas and whizz, salt and pepper to taste. It tastes nicer than shop bought one.

You can make a completely neutral cream cheese version by draining yogurt. I generally use low fat greek yogurt. Line a sieve with paper towel, pour the yogurt and let it drain in the fridge for at least a few hours. Add it to any dip recipe for the creamy effect.

Pour sweet chilli sauce on the drained yogurt (no need to mix it either) and you have a fabulous dip.:D

Ahh, see I do it the traditional way with tahini (lemon juice, garlic, pepper, and maybe some chilli powder if the little one isn't having it) and find that it's a little thick and dry without the oil so a splash of water helps. I would have never thought of substituting cream cheese instead, we don't have much choice in my house though as my youngest is lactose intolerant :(, I think I'll have to try that one day if he's not having it though as it sounds pretty nice :D

Yogurt and sweet chilli sauce sounds delicious right now! Not had it in years!
  • I do that with yoghurt too! Makes a cheese like Boursin once you add the salt, garlic and herbs. Nom nom nom .......

That is exactly what has happened to me:eek: Before Christmas I got down to 10st 11lb but after Christmas/New Year was up to 11st 4lb:eek::eek:

Have now got down to 11st 1lb, but psychologically I need to get back below 11st to get my motivation back on track.

That's spooky melbury. I went from 10st 11lb to 11st 4lb. I have only got down to 11st 2.5lb so far - I cannot wait to get below 11st again as I was doing so well and Christmas interrupted the good work.

Does anyone know whether it is acceptable to end the fast exactly 24 hours after last eating? For example, if I had dinner at 6pm yesterday would it be okay to break the fast at 6pm today?[/QUOTE]

From what I've read, that counts as a 1/2 day Best to hold out & go to bed earlier on a near empty tum. You'll feel stronger for it & gets you use to a routine.
