If you opt for something containing pulse in the evening (there is a tomatoe and lentil soup recipe lurking around), you're more likely to feel full longer.I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
I did my first proper fast today since Christmas. It was difficult because I've developed a chocolate/sugar craving and the desire to graze due of all the treats lying around. This fast is my life saver. I keep it simple drinking normal tea and usually eat some dinner. I've just finished a tuna salad with home made lemon oil dressing. The lettuce was crisp and delicious. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Only started this on Sunday (my first fast day - just to see how it went before going back to work) and today was my first fast day while in the office. Thought it would be awful, surrounded by people scoffing bacon sarnies for breakfast and cakes and wotnot, but I actually found it surprisingly easy. Decided not to have any breakfast, just kept myself going with herbal teas and water and then had soup, two oatcakes with low fat philadelphia and an apple for lunch and holding off as long as possible this evening until I have my Weightwatchers Ocean Pie (196 calories... not really the sort of thing I eat regularly, mind, it was on offer for £1 in Morrisons!). I was all ready to eat it at about 5pm, but have just had a few glasses of water and so far it's done the trick.
Interesting testing out how much you can push feelings of hunger and the effect on the body I'm finding.0 -
Okay, lesson learned. Will assemble big chunky salad for dinner on Thursday's fast. One sloppy-swimming-in-sauce ready-made diet meal doesn't quite do the trick!! After a mostly liquid diet all day of soup, tea and water I definitely think I needed something a bit more substantial that involved chewing!0

Some fast days are harder than others, but I love this way of eating. I feel great and there's no food forbidden, which would only make me want it more!
Lucky you, I didn't think I ate that much over Christmas but put on 5lbs in a week:eek::eek: Now have to set about losing it:(Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

You can make a huuuuge portion of green vegetables in a stir-fry that has some bite too and feels quite 'normal' too. I also like a large quantity of microwaved leeks with a spoon of light Philadelphia and a little bit of bovril/marmite in it.I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
Second fast day yesterday & another one tomorrow. I seem to be able to last until about 4pm on drinks & yes I'm trotting to the loo more often although I'm not drinking any more than usual. I'm hoping its my body getting rid of all the excess - lol.
I'm going to report in at the end of the month with my weight loss (if any!!) When I weighed in last week I was 158.3Lbs & I'd like to get down to 145 - I'm 5'10'' so I dont want to be silly!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
My second fast day today too.
I've read the whole thread (took a couple of days:o ) and I've picked up some fabulous tips! Thank you to who it was who suggested the Hiary Dieters book:T, I have that book so I had a good look through last night. Thank you to who suggested the 0 cal noodles:T, next time I go to Holland and Barret I will be trying those too. And thanks to those who mentioned green tea:T, I am now drinking green tea with lemon on fast days.
I'm another who has found it quite liberating as in, not worrying too much over what I choose to eat. I tend to crave a food which can be high calorie but I won't eat it and then can spend days thinking about that food. Just recently it's been crispy prawns from Iceland:o Not massively high calorie, but enough to make me choose a lower calorie option. Yesterday I had the prawns without beating myself up about it if that makes any sense.

How have you been getting on? Any more headaches or shakes?
I've not done it since
The following day of my fast I got the heaviest horriblest chesty cold which is still with me now (maybe the headache was part of that) - the thought of fasting whilst under the weather is not appealing at the moment.0
