How would this work if you wanted to do everyday fasting? Say, not eating after 8pm then not eating again until at least 12pm the next day?

Yes, it works fine, it's what I do - minimum of 16 hour fast per day.0 -

Lots of people do this as a regular way of eating. You need to fast for about 16 hours in order to achieve the beneficial changes and then not eat rubbish!0 -
Great, that is pretty much what I do anyway!
The amount of people that have got on my back about not eating breakfast is unreal! "Oh, but it's the most important meal of the day" ?? Where's the truth in that?

Hahaha I know! All breakfast ever did was make me ravenous! I used to make epic bowls of porridge worth about 800 calories - oats, milk, coffee, cacao, protein powder, topped with Greek yoghurt, berries & nuts. Guaranteed within an hour and a half I'd be starving!
The thing I love most about intermittent fasting is I'm a greedy biatch - 2 large meals later in the day suits me so much more than 3 meals and snacks ever did!0 -
Can I just ask those of you who are jumping on the bandwagon with this fasting as if it's the latest craze (it's not, it's been around for years amongst fitpros) just how much research you've actually done into it and in particular to the women, are you aware of the impact it will have on your hormones and the potential to affect your monthly cycles etc?
ETA: Also the type and amount of food you can have on fasting days is extremely restricted not just "eat 600 calories worth of whatever you fancy" if you're to do it properly. I've even read of one person on here having a glass of wine on their fasting day!!
I can see all this going so terribly wrong and in a few weeks time people will be jumping up & down screaming this diet doesn't work etc. Well, ahem, it's not actually a "diet" and shouldn't be treat as one. Rant over.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

I've read your blog and seen pics of the epic porridges you made! :rotfl:
Anyway, I guess the fasting is something I've always really done, I just can't really stomach breakfast and forcing something down my neck just makes me feel sick. Are you allowed to have a cup of tea within the fasting hours though?
I.e say I've fasted from 8pm and I am not going to eat until 12pm the next day, can I have a cup of tea at 7am when I get up?

Well I for one spent some time reading round.
BUT
Instead of being negative and p£ssing on people's efforts to get healthier, would you like to give us the benefit of your VAST expertise, and post links to research sources please? Thank youI try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -

Thanks, I was such a porridge addict! Not had it since I gave up grains though and have to say I haven't missed it one bit!
I drink green tea, black tea, black coffee & water during my fasts - anything calorie free basically.
The only calories I do consume is from amino acids when I do my weight training fasted but apart from that, no other calories.
Some say a little splash of milk in tea/coffee is ok but no sugar, cream, etc as it would break the fast.0 -
I can't post links just yet as a newbie but some great resources:
