im trying this too , started today , i have a terrible headache already , but i am suffering with a cold so maybe the headache stems from there.

I already eat low carb ( with regular hiccups into high carb :o) and have tried the 16:8 IF successfully too.

I have decided to have 500cals at lunchtime as we are going out for lunch.

JAG you look amazing :T i have bookmarked your blog to read later

Sistercas, I also had a headache on the first day! It was so bad that I felt slightly sick eating my 500 cals late lunch, and had a 2-hour nap afterwards... Which did help, together with a couple of ibuprofen.

The good news is, there was no sign of any headache on my second fast day... :D

You might want to read my post from this thread which explains the reason for the weight loss you're experiencing ;)

I am aware of that thanks, however the scales is going in the right direction and I look much much better so its all good, stayed the same weight wise this morning after a sensible eating day yesterday:)

  • Hi, I am looking to start this and wondered what you are eating on the fasting days? I get hungry quite quickly so need something filling or that I can break down maybe into two small meals.

I am finding you guys very motivational! I have watched the Horizon programme and found it fascinating. I am going to try it for a month to see how I do as I have followed low calories diets and struggled not to starve!
  • I don't eat anything while I'm fasting (otherwise its not really fasting) I just prefer to daily 16-18 hour fasts :)

    No seriously, congratulations.

Interesting you mentioning IBS, bloating etc as I am the same (yes, guys have it too!).

My stomach is only normal sized when I get up. I eat around 1.30pm and the rest of the day, my stomach swells up and I look pregnant and it;s always rumbling so badly and sounds gassy. I feel like someone has turned a mini tap on inside me and acid is running through me :(

I did an allergy test years ago that told me to avoid dairy and bread (yeast). Well, as the worlds fussiest eater and being veggie, all I do eat is cheese sandwiches, apples and banana's really.

I will investigate this more, special thanks to Just a Girl : )

Hi, can I ask where you get the idea that a gastric bypass patient would be on a daily intake of just 600 calories? Perhaps they will be restricted to this during the pre-op diet whereby they have to deplete their glycogen levels to shrink the liver but certainly not long term, it's simply not sustainable. Most bariatric patients will be on a minimum of 1200 calories a day and if they're not, they should be!

Actually it can take up to 12 months post op to get someone up to 1200 calories. Of course everyone varies with what they can ingest in the first few weeks post op..but certainly 1200 for many months IS a physical impossibility.
Many are on less than 600 calories post op...pre op is not calorie controlled as much as sugar/carbs controlled to as you state reduce the size of the liver. Your comment of "if they are not they should be" highlights your ignorance..not mine.
    :T2013...nothing..still hoping though!!

Sorry, but I completely disagree with you. And I do have significant knowledge and experience in this area. Post-op, once a patient is past the liquid and pureed phase of their diet (6-8 weeks) they should be taking in 1200 calories a day minimum and this is easily achievable if they follow the proper protocols of diet. To survive on just 600 calories per day is neither sustainable nor healthy long term and especially in light of the fact they have a reduced capacity to absorb the nutrients from the food they eat.

I dont eat anything but I do have sugar in my coffee which I'm not giving up because life is just too short, its so strange, I cant wait to get back to fasting and I'm starting my monday fast now, never thought I'd say this but thinking about what to eat and then actually eating it is getting on my nerves, I have much less energy today having eaten yesterday and up until now, I did just eat a walnut whip and its knocked me out:rotfl:
